305 Rebuild
Alright, so some of you may have heard by now that I'm involved in rebuilding a 305 with a friend of mine that we're gonna drop into his 2002 Chevy S-10. We decided it was time to make a thread about the rebuild, with pictures of the progression. Enjoy.
Every project needs a drink. Beers of choice: Oberon and Corona ![]() Some people can't justify spending money on machine made crap, I know we can't. ![]() (Homemade Engine Stand for the slow ones, and yes we have tested it to hold Quite a bit of weight..) Unfortunately no pictures of the before, but here she is in her current state: ![]() Be warned, if you are squeamish the following will make you a tad sick: ![]() (Wait till we get the oil pan off..) Some parts behave: ![]() Some parts don't: ![]() (Unfortunately the "Persuayer" was busy with another gig and could not pose for this picture) But the persuayer's little brother the intimidator did have some time to drop by: ![]() Now some of you think that I'm the biggest tool you've ever seen, I don't think so: ![]() (Notice the well placed product label) The Annihilators: ![]() More to come in the following weeks, my buddy David (S-10 Freak!) will post up later with a list of planned modifications to this beast as well as more on what she'll be going into. Stay tuned. ![]() |

full upgrade, we haven't discussed yet how far it will be bored out, my buddy will post his list when he gets on next time. the plan is to get as much out of the 305 that we can. before anyone says anything, originally he planned to get the 350, but they already had the 305 available and he got it off of his carclub's owner for $300 which is a damn good deal.
only thing holding us back right now is getting some help lifting that beast onto our homemade engine stand. my friends have now officially bailed on us two nights in a row on helping move it, and we can't get the oil pan off or the pistons out until we do get some help. ![]() anyways, the plan is to have this project done possibly this winter so that we can drive it out for GAP07. |

Blue Moon > Corona
I've seen and worked on worse and made it work. So there is no reason why you guys can't do the same. Personally I wouldn't even think of using a 305, it's gutless in my opinion. But you got a good deal on it so have fun with it. Tip: Split the tranny from the engine. That way 2 people can lift the engine block onto your stand.

Apparently you didn't pay attention in geography Sik, we don't have mountains in Indiana...or any part of the midwest for that matter.
It took some work for me to comprehend it as well, but in the end I decided it was an insult directed at both you and your mom, therefore I gave it the zing! approval. Now please, go back to rubbing your cf masterpiece and leave my thread alone before it gets shut down for being a pw paradise. |

Anyways, my thread is now officially pw free, no more whoring. And ontopic, tomorrow I guarantee the removal of the nasty oilpan..

Hmm maybe if its full of sludge you could heat up the bottom of the pan with a blow torch to melt it all away?

What a nasting looking engine. I still don't understand why you want to go back in time and use a carbed engine in an 2002 truck.
What engine is in the truck now? If it is the 4.3L then I would just save the hassle and put a good set of heads, headers and cam it. Or supercharge it, I know a guy with a supercharged 4.3L S-10 that put down 400 WHP. In my oppinion a 305 is a poor choice for performance, but good luck with it. I would personally go with a 5.3L out of a newer GM pickup as they share the LS design. They can be picked up fairly cheap as well and will have alot more potential than a 305. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SIERR...QQcmdZViewItem
