Infinity VS. Alpine

Ok so I want to get some new speakers for my GAGT for christmas. So before telling my mom what to get. I wanted to come here and ask you guys what you think because obviously you all know what your talking about. So my question to you guys....should i get alpine type r's/s's or should i get infinity reference's. Also should i go with the same speaker front and back (different sizes i know). Also, what should i do abou tthe tweeter being in the front door thingy near the dashboard? leave it in there and wire it up or take it out and put a new one in?

Forgot to add: 2 way or 3 way speakers? i might end up hooking an amp up to them later on. I am also looking to get the Alpine CDE-9852 or CDA-9856 unless you guys have another pick for around that price range (<$200)

I have infinity references and they are pretty good. Are you amping the new speakers? between the infinity reference and the alpine type r's, I'd prolly go with the alpine. OR do what I'm doing, and put some infinity PERFECT 5.25s in the door, and get some q logic kick panels and put some infinity perfect 6.5s in those.

i don't want to get the kick panels. I'm just looking for speakers to go into the existing places. I was at best buy tonight and the guy said you can put in 6.5" in the front. Just put in the speakers and redrill holes? This correct?

alpine lacks bass. i like to call them the Bose of car audio. infinity is going to be what you want. and if you can get Kappa, then get it.

Infinity Reference > Alpine Type S
Alpine Type R > Infinity Reference

However,

Infinity Kappa > Alpine Type R's,
and
Infinity PERFECT > 'em all! lmao.

You should definitely try and get out to hear the differences between these speakers. I just played a set of Alpine Type R 5.25 comp's and a Type R 6x9's, and they didn't lack bass in my opinion, but who cares if they did? I've got two Type R 10"s!!! MWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

=|

lmao.

personally between refrence and type r's, i would go with the type r's. i have heard both of them in cars, and in my opinion the type r's sound cleaner.

when i was at best buy i listened to both the references and the Type S's and it seemed to me like the type s's had more base to them. I might end up hooking an amp up to my speakers so that may hepl a lil. the only reason i'm gettin the type s's is because my pars don't want to spend alot on speakers for my car. they are already mad at me because all of the christmas pres's i want are over $100 and most of the are for my car. :-P. they tell me i should keep it stock :-P NO WAY!

Stock? lmao... I think, I THINK Alpine offers a really cool full system deal with Type S speakers/subs and an amp (maybe a head too?) For right around $6/700.

Hit up ebay for speakers to save money. 9612i
119.99 Crutchfield
70 Ebay

In my car, I got Infinity Reference 9612i 2ways. They have about twice as much bass as stock to me. I got Alpine SPS-46C2 up front. I should have kelp my stockers or just saved up and got 6". But they can handle 18RMS.

plus the 2 10" Type E out back that makes the system perfect.

also i like the CDA-9856, more power.

great fronts and rears i found on ebay that are better then both alpine and infinity, IMO.

FRONTS:

http://cgi.ebay.com/KENWOOD-KFC-X460...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/BOSTON-ACOUSTICS...QQcmdZViewItem

Rears:

http://cgi.ebay.com/KENWOOD-EXCELON-...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Pioneer-TS-D...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/MB-QUART-DTC169-...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/PAIR-BOSTON-ACOU...QQcmdZViewItem

as far as the fronts go, both will sound great, the Kenwoods will go lower, but the bostons will be louder.

and as far as the rears go the kenwoods will be your best value, the pioneers will give you the most bass by far, and the MB quarts and Bostons will both sound great. do yourself a favor and go to a private shop and hear something better then Circut City and Best Buy have to offer. you can get great deals on ebay. but dude follow your ears when buying speakers. also with every thing i found, with shipping nothing is more then $150. you can get a great set up for your car for a total of under $200. and it will sound better then anything from CC and BB. something to think about. hope this helps.

I am lookin for both rears and fronts for my car. I decided to get the Alpine CDE 9852 because my bro is gunna get the 9856 and i don't want the same thing. I was lookin at boston's. But the only place i can seem to find them around here are on the internet and my pars don't like shopping on the internet...idk why but w/e. so you think bostons will be btter than the type S's. I'm thinkin of gettin 6.5"s in the front and 6x9"s in the rear.

Depends on what line of Boston's we're talking. PRO's yes, but I'm positive you're not referring to those, lmoa.

Kenwood, man I cannot believe I didn't mention how great of speakers Kenwood puts out. Just was in a car audio store recently, and I've got to say the Kenny's I listened to sounded great, and closely rivaled my choice in Alpine Type R speakers.

You've got to keep trying to get out and listen to speakers, anywhere you can, ask around about car audio places, GO TO CC and BB, even though they might not have what some people here like, they may have something that sparks your interest!

Keep doing research, browse web forums if you have to. Kenwood, Infinity, Alpine, and Boston are winners!

for cheap online pricing, check out woofersetc.com and techronics.com.
