That is the worst advice I've ever heard...yes theres always debt but you dont have to live up to your ears in it. We all want new cars I know I do but I'd rather just keep driving mine for another year or so with no payments, people would rather live at home and have a nice car instead of growing up and getting their own place and driving a slightly less cool car...whatever floats your boat

Seems like a good idea at the time. Just wait until you're trying to help pay for your children's educations but you cant get a loan because of outstanding debt.

Yea, I have more debt than a years income right now w/ my car + school... but thats no reason to say, Aww **** it... and rack up more.

Yeah I have to agree with Greg. Back in the day, my car payment wasn't too much of an issue with the job I had. Now that I've changed jobs, it's still not much of an issue but more so I realize that it's absorbing more of my funds than I'd like it to, not to mention holding me back in moving forward with other things in life. Granted, I couldn't have predicted this happening, but I could have atleast prepared for it better. By not allowing my purchase in general to consume so much $ consistently or force me to stay in a stressed position I was in for so long.

Like everyone else said, the ends don't justify the means; and just cause it's popular, doesn't mean its right. Why perpetuate the cycle? I save every dime I can, and I don't mod my cars anymore until I have a substantial disposable income to do so.

The hard thing is, mods were more than a spending of money, it was the craft involved in installation and fabricating something, and the idea of a project or a puzzle. Our hobby that we love so much.

Unfortunately, those projects are super costly because mods almost never return a profit. Whether in the installed car or uninstalled, you will never get your money back on an exhaust or anything.

Thats why I've tried to focus on small things I can do to make the car my own without spending a grand on one item.

Exactly, and unless it is a car I know I will keep for a long time, like a Camaro, Corvette, etc, there is simply no sense in dropping mad money on it when I know there is no chance for a return on my investment. After I parted out my GA, I probably walked with 50-60% of what I paid for the mods which were less than a year old

Hey Jon, what's up with the Mazda 6? I wouldn't mind considering that as well before my final decision. Looks like a pretty fun car, but the thing is next year's model is right around the corner with more hp. It's almost like i'd still be better off with the CX-7.

To be honest the current 6 isnt that great. The engines have oiling issues, its a full on Ford motor. Id stick with the CX-7. But at the same point, I would toy with the idea of looking for an unsold 2006 MS6. You can get into a sport cheaper than you can a CX7 Sport AWD, it will be more fun, consume the same amount of gas.

Look at Texas dealers, rumor has it that there is a dealer super-store with 50+ unsold 2006 units. I think you can get into a no-option Sprt for about 24,500 with S-plan ... plus there are even more rebates out this month, as well as Mazda American Credit has a 1.9/2.9/3.9/4.9 intrest plan out on 36/48/60/72month loans.

Well i'm leasin, i'm not buyin. This is to tie me over and keep payments as low as physically possible.

They won't lease 06 MS6's will they. I know the Sport FWD CX-7 is $249.99 lease right now, but I can get S-Plan ontop of that. I'm pretty sure I could get a AWD Sport with Bose for $275 a month tops.

You may be able to get a lease... that Im not sure about, I know the Mazda 6 can lease for pretty cheap as well... and if your leasing, then the oiling issues on the 6 hould be of no concern.

The only thing that's really been brought up is that it has the least amount of hp among the competitors. I personally think the sedan looks sexy as hell. I really wanted to stick with an Auto, but I know I was really impressed with how smooth the RX-8's manual tranny was when I test drove it two years ago. So I may consider test driving the MS6 first before I made a decision.

Why not look into the MS3? Or are there not that many out there?
