DO NOT get an RX8. Leased or not, you will not be happy. Drive them too hard, they piss coolant, dont drive them hard enough and the carbon up and flood. Ive seen 7-8 of them get new engines in the past 4 months.

Oh there'd be no way in hell I'd get one. I just remember being really impressed with how smooth the manual tranny felt when I drove one two years ago. I was hoping that the MS6 and MS3 had the same trans and shift equipment.

Jon,

Have you seen/heard of any RX-8's running too hot & wrecking the engine ?

& maybe you can answer this for me regarding Mazda vehicles:
Why does Mazda North America recommend not using any synthetic motor oils in their vehicles ?

Especially, in the Mazda RX-8 where their engines could run too hot !

What do think of their semi-synthetic 5W-20 motor oil that they recommend in their vehicles (in North America) ?

They run hot because they internally leak coolant. See what happens, if you beat the crap out of the thing, the rotor housings warp slightly as does the apex seal letting coolant leak, leading to the engine overheating (read: compression within the coolant system is no good) which inturn replicates the process and over and over it goes untill the thing is focked.

And if you dont beat on it, and never take it to redline which beleive it or not many RX8 drivers do, then the manifolds plugs and injectors clog up with carbon, foul out, causing a lean issue inturn focking everything royaly also.

You cannot win with the rotory for some reason.

And well for the oil what I do know is that Ford also uses the 5W20 in thier Zetec and I beleive also thier duratec line (the duratec (sp?) being the same V6 in the Mazda 6) and so it may have to do with Ford influence.

From my experience you dont want to use a synthetic in certain engines (some believe turbo charged engines, as well as the rotory) because it is more prone to leak, however, if that were the case, then why is one using a 5w20 which is lighter than a 5w30?

I dont know the answer to that to be honest. I dont like it. I have to find out what they recommend for my Miata.

Also, Mike, that 6speed in the RX8? Yeah, same trans in my MSM... hence why I love that trans. It is a very smooth shifting trans for sure. Has synchro issues though, so Im hoping mine go out so I can get the update hardware that keeps the synchro in place.

They won't lease 06 MS6's will they. I know the Sport FWD CX-7 is $249.99 lease right now, but I can get S-Plan ontop of that. I'm pretty sure I could get a AWD Sport with Bose for $275 a month tops.
Yes you can lease a MS6 I looked into it but changed my mind b/c I'm waiting...keep in mind that $249/mo is before taxes its going to be more like $325+ thats how dealerships draw people in by putting a low monthly payment then you get inside and find out you have to put 3-4k down at signing and it doesnt include taxes

Well i'm hopin with S-plan ford employee price will help.

I'm really gonna have to do some serious thinking. If I can't get close to what I owe with my car, i'm not getting rid of it, lemon or not. 400hp and good gas mileage (yes I said it), I honestly can't complain other than camping out at the dealer every so often.

Ford started phasing in the 5w20 in about 2001, now almost every Ford (obviously not the diesels) uses it. My mustang does, so does my parents vehicles, a f150 and an escape. 5w20 is actually a semi-synthetic oil. The rumors are that by 2008 or 09 Ford will switch to a 0w20 oil. As of right now, the only manufacturer to use that is Volkswagen I think, and I've only seen 0w20 available in Mobil 1 full synthetic.

Well I found the car... test drove it tonight, and got a buyers order. Just waiting on the final stuff from my lender and I will go back and pick it up.

Its an 04, has 5400 miles all options (which are the leather upholstry/cloth top as opposed to cloth/vinyl respectively) and the paint was in great shape.

Just a few little things to stitch up and Hello RWD Turbo.

Hey Jon,

I forgot I had these pictures that I took at a car show last September. This guy we know retro-fitted a foxbody Mustang 5.0 engine in a Miata. It's insane!

although that is almost as sacreligious as putting an import motor in that '67 mustang in Tokyo Drift, that is still pretty cool. A nightmare to work on I'm sure, but cool none the less

It doesnt really help they're already getting rid of them below invoice so the s-plan wont discount it anymore I still think you're looking at $325-350/mo when all is said and done

May I recommend that you use a synthetic motor oil that is ACEA A3 rated.
Example: Castrol Syntec 0W-30 synthetic motor oil from Germany

& if that is a little too thick to your liking, then an ACEA A5 rated synthetic motor oil.
Example: Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 or 10W-30 synthetic motor oil

Your engine & turbo will appreicate it

Actually wrong, E plan and S plan have some added rebates and discounts now, trying to help push out the left over 06s. Yes they are selling for under invoice, and you can get them for even farther below invoice now.

I refuse to use Pennzoil regardless of what anyone tells me. Mobil 1 5w30 will msot likely be the choice, and once I take delivery of the vehicle Royal Purple MTF will go in the trans, and some RP gear lube in the rear end.

Then make it Mobil 1 EP (Extended Performance) that is ACEA A5 rated.

Regular Mobil 1 5W-30 is not ACEA A5 rated anymore

I use Castrol Syntec myself. And it works great. It makes a hell of a difference, comared to regular oil.

I rented an 04 GA SE with the same engine, when I had my car in the shop, and it lacked alot of the power my car had. But then again it was a rental.

And the only other thing I have is an Intake.
