Perhaps on these message boards, but the majority of people would want a bone stock car. |

The kelly blue book value for the car in the condition it is in minus any modifications is over $6500
The TRADE IN value to a dealership is $6000 and the Private Party Value is almost $7000. I payed $6500 for the car 3 years ago and didnt even put on 20,000 miles yet plus the modifications and new speakers, new deck, two amazing subs and a really f'ing powerful amp, the interior looks 100000x better then the stock crap where half the car is a ugly beige color. The engine looks great, and the LIM gasket being fixed with felpro gaskets is a BIG PLUS if you friggin read this forum. The problem is known to happen so if you were to buy this car and not even know a thing about the gasket problem ud obviously get the car cheaper then find yourself paying almost another grand to get that fixed. Atleast in this case I would be honest with the buyer and let them know that the grand ams are known for bad gasket design and that I have already knocked that problem off the list. Just like when I purchased the car the guy barely drove it and kept it in his garage it was in mint condition when I got it. He told me how the cars have problems with the stock brakes and he replaced the rotors, calipers, and brake pads before he put the car up for sale. He took real good care of it you could tell and I had no problems with this car with exception to fixing the LIM gasket before it happened. But I wouldnt consider that a faulty problem considering it was just pretense to a problem that most likely would occur soon. Ive heard this happening as early as 40,000 miles and even earlier then that regardless this car is almost 8 years old...youd think it was atleast a 2003 heh Last edited by wushdishmeen; 01-17-2007 at 11:40 AM. |

you say you are just trying to see what people would offer you for your car...they have and you arent happy with the result, but the fact is, you paid 6500, and that was 3 years and 20,000 miles ago. if you were looking for a car that would be worth more as it got older....a grand am was not the way to go. beside you cant just say, ive put 2 grand into the audio system, so it must at least be worth 8500 now, because all of that depreciates, and despite what you would like to think about your car (which is a very nice looking car, i like what youve done with it) there are TONS of ga's out there, so unless you find someone who is absolutely head over heels about everything youve done with your car, it is only gonna be worth about the same as the rest out there. again i like your car, but you'd best not hold your breath for 9 grand or anything over 7, because i recall seeing several grand ams for sale with a lot more money and work poured in and only selling for 8 grand if that

In my area according to KBB it is only worth $6,130, i entered it as excellent condtion.
So to *me*, in *my* area it is only worth $6,130. Therefore i would only offer at the very most $5500. Your mods do not add value, get over it and part it out.

As far as the leaking gasket goes, most people probably arent even aware of this being an issue, and even so... if it needs fixed it needs fixed, that doesnt add to the value of the car either. Your better off kepping the thing. All the more its worth now, that thing can last you a long time with that low of miles. Save up and get yourself a new Camaro or Challenger and use this as your winter car. Nothing wrong with starting your asking price high, and going down from there, but just be prepared to be dissapointed, youll be better off taking the sound system out and putting some stock parts back on if you have them. Autotrader would also be a good place to list the car. Last edited by Mirage85; 01-17-2007 at 12:21 PM. |

I'd like to see the interior please, and inside the trunk. I'll offer $2,000 right now, so long as nothing is missing from the car, and that of course it runs as it should. (I'm not interested in it if parts of the engine, etc, are missing..)

Yeah aftermarket parts do not increase the value of the car unless that particular person was going to buy the car and wanted those exact parts, in which case they might give u what your car is worth and maybe half or 1/4 of what u paid for the extras because they are all used mods. most people would rather have a stock grand am and do with it as they please, try autotrader and hopefully some kid will see it and not know what the car is worth and you might make out on the deal, however i truly think you wont get much for it, you might get 7500 tops for it
