That's exactly why sometimes it's better to buy at a real store. When you buy online, you risk the hassle of getting a defective/damaged item, and usually you won't get a warranty. Same goes for a lot of online (non-eBay) stores. You just gotta decide if the $$$ saved is worth the risk. It really depends on what you're buying also.

Don't get me wrong, I've bought a lot of stuff online too.

if you buy it on ebay and it doesn't work and the buyer never told you it was defective, you can file a claim with ebay, return the item to the buyer, and hopefully get your money back. i would also file a second claim with paypal if that were the case, paypal will freeze their account and it'll wake 'em up real fast.

if it's what mine are doing then no it isn't the cover. because my cover is off (which btw is a GREAT theft deterrant). got a speaker rattling a good bit, might just need the mounts "adjusted."

i'll just see what mine do after i replace the speakers, then decide from there on what to do.

I'm not too sure about Monsoon stereos but my buddy had the Bose and all of those speakers were 1 ohm. We just replaced everything and ditched the Bose.
A new deck would work out as long as you replace all of the speakers IIRC.
Plus an aftermarket head unit will give you room to expand (amps, subwoofers etc) a lot easier.

If you were to get a new head unit, I don't think so. The head unit will most likely want to see a 4 ohm load from each speaker. The Monsoons have weird impedences that an aftermarket HU doesnt want. For the Bose system there was this adapter/harness thing that would give the HU a 4 ohm load from the Bose speakers but that was for all 4 and you want to replace with aftermarket. And I'm not even sure if that was made for the Monsoon anyways.

you dont know what youre talking about. dont confuse this guy anymore than he already is with car stereos.

you dont have to change out ANY speakers for an aftermarket HU. They will work regardless of what is powering them.

just plug in the "bass" wire on the 6x9's and leave it alone.

i've never heard of anyone having such an issue with something so tiny and extremely easy.

Yikes. I do know you that its not the best thing to be giving most head units less than a 4 ohm load.

Replacing just the headunit is fine. The HU won't actually be seeing a dangerous impedance level, the factory amp handles it.
