I have a 2003, and I'm not an expert, so I don't know if the '01 Monsoon systems were the same as mine. But if it is, you'll have a factory amp in the trunk, behind the left-side carpet when you open the trunk.

If so, then you won't need to rewire anything. You will need to run a wire from the fusebox, behind the dash, and to the radio (for constant or switched power, I forget which one). And you'll need to make sure that the blue remote turn-on wire coming out of your new radio gets connected to the blue wire in the stock harness. That's what turns the factory amp on.

""""I just got off work so you might not understand me at times"""""

Their are 4 harnesses you can get.

GMRC-01
Keeps your chimes and 10 min. play with car off.

GMRC-02
Keeps your chimes and 10 min. play with car off. The chimes come from the drivers speaker like the factory radio.

70-2003T
Umm the radio will work.
I have this in my car. I wired up a little speaker to it (to get the chimes) and had my OEM radio in the back. But one thing i saw was their was always one back lighting bulb on, on the OEM radio. (did you follow that?) So i just took out the OEM radio and said to hell with the chimes. And i cut off the 15' of cable that runs to the OEM radio. My alpine still works fine. Also you have to run a switch 12v line to the harness. IE just tap the wiper fuse in the driver's side fuse box. The BCM is what told the OEM radio to turn on and off.

I can't remember the part No. to the $9 one.
I believe this is it

Just like the 70-2003t but minus the tail that goes to the factory radio.

Looks like rf123 already answered your question. Basically, if you don't care about losing the door chimes, get the last one. Cheap and easy.

**** dude its not 4:20 yet..

But from what i can read.

You want chimes. The GMRC-01 and 02 will reproduce all chimes. Low coolant, door, key, change oil, and the rest of that crap
