Side view mirror blinkers

I think I want to put some LEDs somewhere on the side view mirrors as blinkers. I guess I would just put them behind the actual mirror or something. Anyone ever done this? I need some small projects to get me through the winter meng

Did you put them inside or outside the mirror?

removed the mirror then glued an assembly to the mirrors housing, ran wires along side the wire that controls the mirror, attached the wires to the wires of the blinker

I dunno if youre referring to GAs or just most cars in general but if you are talkin about the GA, is it easy to break? Am I okay to give it a good yank?

i'd like to see some pics of where people mounted these leds behind the glass.. and where to connect the wires to the blinkers

o.. here's another thread on getting leds in there.. magyver said that he broke 3 mirrors while trying to get them apart.. if he broke 3 i'll break 6.. this would be a pretty neat mod though..
Anyone Installed the LED mirror arrows?

and maybe if you could get the glass off, you could spray a metallic or reflective paint or something that would make the housing light up nicely

Sorry the car is dirty but here are mine

As for a quick how to (I can't see anything as I type this, just had laser eye surgery 3 days ago so everything is blurry like a mother)

1. Take out the mirrors from the housing. In my case I was like..screw it and broke them out. Then I did all the led wireing in the back. Then I went out and bought new mirrors ($40 for both or something like that) and turned on the leds. Placed new mirrors on top of the assembly (but not into the assembly just yet) With the leds turned on and mirrors laying on top you can see through it faintly. Took binder hole punsh and made some holes in vynil. Lined up the vynil peices so that the light would shine directly through the hole in the vynil and securely attached the vylin to the mirror glass. Once all holes were lined up took some very fine grit water sand paper and udner water in circular motion kept going until all the reflective material that was showing through the vynil hole was gone. (the reflective material is on top of the glass if you were wondering, not from the back) Once both mirrors were done took em to the same place where I bought the mirrors and for $10 had them install them into the assembly. And that was that. I did this like 3 years ago so these are old pics but nothing has changed and all works wonderfully
