I agree. The TL has a numb feeling to it. No road feel at all. That's why I ended up choosing the A6 instead.

Yea but then you stated you would rather have a heavier, slower and more expensive sedans. I guess I just dont understand it and have to agree to disagree.

BTW I really like the SRT4s.

The Chrysler cars have a 2.7L V6 with 190 HP standard, from there you move up to the 3.5L with ~250 HP. The base G8 engine beats both of those.

The G8's V8 bests the 5.7L Hemi.

I bet there will be a G8 GXP that will probably challenge the SRT-8s with an LS7 derivative a few years after launch. Unfortunately by the time it arives the Chrysler cars will be in their second generations and will have updated powertrains.

Regarding the lowered show car ride height, I actually think it looks a little too high, they should leave it as is. The new Pontiac emblem is alright too.

i said i'd take the acura for looks/comfort over the g8, and the srt version of the charger... the mazdaspeed 6 is nice too...

i like my 5spd but, it's not for a big luxuriousesque ride which is what this is trying to aspire to be...

the only people who root & toot about manual transmissions being the end-all-be-all of car options are the people without it... how many 5spd grand ams are there that post on here? uhhhhhhhhhhhhh lets see, spyhunter.... the other red one with the *** body kit and the v6 guy who might as well be vaporware because he never posts....

pontiac has to do something new/different to be appealing... the solstice was interesting, the gto is fun, the abscense of the firebird is mehhh...

i'd rather drive a charger daytona model then a g8

theres a dealer on the island selling a bright green throw back colored one, looks mint...

i'll take purple :X

The Charger is bland to me. This however is much more interesting imo. I think I would still take the original aussie one though.

Definately on my list of cars to look at for a next car. I don't really see how it is supposed to be a big luxury car though...
I agree with Greg on the AWD. A good driver with RWD is just as capable. Motor is probably underrated too knowing the LS series.

If they make this just like the Holden version, the top model should run to 60mph in about 5.4 - 5.8 seconds.

Thats not fast huh? I think thats pretty damn fast for a 4k lb 4-door sedan. You'd have to get yourself a Charger SRT-8 for about $44k to go faster, and even then its only gonna be by about .2 seconds.

mr_eh have you sat in a G8 yet? How can you comment on comfort? I've driven the TL and the GTO, the TL has more bells and whistles but the GTO felt more comfortable. I swore off pontiac too after my GA but they've really improved recently.

I personally like the manual trans IMO dodge dropped the ball not having a manual trans option I actually considered a charger till I found out they had no 5/6spd option. Its just plain more fun to drive I get bored of automatics too fast. Every car should have the option.

Added it to my list of cars to consider later this year/early next year (if the GA can make it that long) for a 4 door replacement. Adam isn't as much into it as I am but we'll see.

By the time the G8 comes out it'll probably still be behind the other car companies.
Toyota, honda, Nissan will be way ahead of Pontiac. If they were to release this summer I'd say it definitly will pose a competitive stance towards other car makers. But, GM always seems to not suprise us with old recycled designs/engineering. Boasting about all this crap that will probably be obsolete by then.
Hopefully the craze for retro look will still be around 09 for the Camaro, but thats a different topic.
But there are cars out there already who have been using these engine nos. and specs. Well GM welcome to last year.

How do you figure its way behind toyota/honda/nissan? Honda has nothing to compete...yea v6 FWD sedan no thanks. Lexus has the IS but its more expensive and a lot less power. Infiniti has the G35 but again more expensive and less power. I'm pulling for pontiac on this one maybe this will change their image and awful resale value.

looks really great. not really into the "modernized" badge though.

Can't wait to see how fast this thing can go compared to the Charger R/T. Then i cant wait to see the GXP (if they do one) go up against the SRT8.

You're giving me reasons for power and price. What about the car over all. Interior and little things of detail. I wouldnt judge a Lexus IS by engine power only, I would look at it as a whole. So overall, I believe that yes, Pontiac designs are far behind, but I give them credit, they are trying.
I would pay $36,000 for a Lexus/Infinity, not a Pontiac. By the time it does come out, Infinity/Lexus will PROBABLY come out w/ something to up the competitors.
