Yeah... what can I say, I was young and uneducated. Hence why I moved to manual, rear wheel drive, and turbo. Same as you to the GOAT.

Regardles man, not ragging on you, just trying to open your eyes a bit. Im sure it sounds nice, a GA with intake does sound sick, but realize your gains are minimal at best. And again, its your car so if your happy thats what matters!!!

What I'm saying is OVER STOCK, it's noticably faster. I don't have any other performance mods done to my car. I just don't have the green for that. All the other little mods here and there is what I could do at the time. I will take pics after I get my dual post mirrors on and bumper and fender and after it's all painted. And that's WHY I went with the wai, a friend of mine has a cold air intake on his car, and his bottom end is much slower because of it, now granted...he has more top end to his car because of it, but take off...I get him every time and that was when my engine was bone stock.

a CAI will slow down your take off? since when?

i think you feeling a boost is like they said, its all in your head but hey if you like it, go with it. if you took it to the dyno before and after, you would see the slightest change.

a little advice, quit before you get further behind. the people you are talking to are far more experienced in these cars and know them inside and out, regardless of what they drive now.

every intake seller brags you get 10hp-15hp from the intake, guess what? lies. at most maybe a handful, and it won't be a noticable amount when accelerating. what you are feeling we call a "placebo" effect, you feel something that isn't really there because your mind tricks you into feeling it. this has to do a large part like stated before with the engine being louder, your mind hears that and thinks "ooo, it's louder, it has more power" and BAM! you convince yourself that you now are driving a viper.

trust me, you aren't driving a viper. and there is little to no difference in acceleration, it's all in your head.

He is exactly right, its all in your head.

If you want a cold air box, they do sell them and its a version that wont restrict the air like that chrome thing is.

these are real intakes. what you have is a ricer-wanna be intake, that probably doesn't do anything but make a noise. that chrome thing on there is not a heat shield, b/c a heat shield doesn't/shouldn't cover the actual filter.

Ok,
#1. your 22, and I'm 21...didn't know 1 year makes me a kid.
#2. I call it a heat shield because that's what it's called on the site, I got it because it was the same price and looked nice.
#3. So your saying that my intake is "ricey" and the Dr. speed short ram is not? Wow, I can remove the "heat sheild" and then I'll be just like everyone else on this forum, I thought this whole place was about being "different".
#4. It's not in my head, I've ridden in a ricer before and it was loud and I didn't think oh wow it's loud it's automatically fast...no, it was slow. I can tell a difference in loud and fast and loud and slow.
#5 This is my car, not anyone else's. I posted in the member gallery section, just to show everyone what I had done. I think it was #14 of the rules or such that said, if you don't have something nice to say about something, don't say anything at all. But to each is their own right? I chose what I did for a reason. I didn't ask anyone what they thought about what it looks like. I just posted pics because I'm happy that I got it.
#6. You can close this thread or delete it...don't really care.

The majority of us were not trying to insult you... merely trying to enlighten you on common misconceptions. If we didn't some other poor soul would order one of these expecting gains. Just tryin to "keep it real" fo sho.

Like I said before, I wasn't expecting any real gains to begin with. And the only reason I ordered one from them is because more than 1 person on this forum recommended "Chrome Intakes" if I wanted a wai.

#4..it's in your head, take it to a dyno if you still want to be bullheaded about it and a few hundred $$ later you'll see we were right.

you're right, it is your car and you can do what you want. but like joe said we were trying to enlighten you about several common misconceptions.

as for that rule you found about saying nice things, you've been around here long enough to know that people will give both positive AND negative criticisms. negative isn't always nice, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't have the right to give it. that rule is more for people cussing each other out, calling each other names, etc. and trust me, if anyone broke that rule in here you'd DEFINITELY know it,

chill out guy. as much of douchebags these guys may seem, they are right. dont worry, we've all been there and made bad purchases. The thing you have to realise is that when you make a post on a public forum you have to accept all feedback, even negative. It happens to everyone. Arguing with them doesnt do anything but make you look ignorant.

Good and bad, take them both and learn from it.

And as for you older members; you know better than to argue with a newbie. Just drop it.

Honestly, I really don't care if anyone believes me or not. No one is here to ride in my car to tell. So I'm not going to sit here and fuss back and forward about a topic that "everyone knows more about than me" when nobody rode in my car before and after. And yes, I did take it as an insult when people are pretty much calling me stupid and telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about when in fact I do.

first off we have riden in your car, we all had stock grand am's at one point in time. we all have done mods, both beneficial and non-beneficial to our cars. we all know what our cars feel like before and after said mods.

that being said, i'm done here. the second i saw your first post i knew the thread was headed this direction, hence why i stayed out of it for as long as i did.

peace.
