MTX has been around for some time, I had a friend with some in his trunk- they are probably some of the best bang for your buck out there, I would say a definite "starter" sub

i'm not a big fan of MTX. i just dont like the way there subs sound. if you really want some "bang for the buck" i'd start off with some Pioneer Premier 3000SPL's off ebay, for about $100 a pop. or some Image Dynamic subs. either one will do ya right.

All are a pretty good deal right now, but the db500 12's for $75 will be hard to beat on a budget.

They have a bunch of subs on sale right now. Go to their forums and you'll find people that have first hand experience with the product, and can help you with a nice ported box design.

I've used older tc9's, the tc-1000, and tc-2000. All have been stellar performers. TC sounds has been an OEM since the 80's, but only started selling direct recently. They know what they're doing and have provided woofers for many very well regarded companies.

I put a tc-2000 into a 214L enclosure tuned to 15hz with a kilowatt on tap. The person I built it for kept giggling like a little girl when I fired it up. He's now trying to figure out how to keep his silverware drawer from making so much noise....and his wife is worried that it's causing structural damage to the house. When low bass scenes hit, like those in the War of the Worlds remake, you can feel the subsonics flexing the floor of his living room.

I have Alpine Type R 12, and I love it. 900 way Rockford amp thats pretty good. My car pounds. I just got out of two MTX 10's and they were pretty good. Alpine though, is my personal fav right now.

grrrrrr this is confusing . im on a moderate budjet. like 110 a sub or like everything (box and subs) for 300 is ok i mean i can spend a little more if its gonna help alot. i luv bass for rap, theres no other way to listen to rap personally than with monster bass going on. so yea and reccomendations?

honestly, before yesterday i had never heard of TC Sounds. but for $120, and 24 mm of xmas, i doubt your going to find a sub to move more air for that price. IMO thats insane, and i would really like to hear one.

The only thing with the tc1000 is that it idealy is meant for a ported enclosure. Either that or some big power and EQ contouring in a sealed box...

What does that $300 budget cover? Amp, subs & box, or just subs & box? Are you capable of making your own box?

well a box is like 30-50 bucks. all just absorb that and not put it in the budget. but, like id like to keep it under 450 for amp/subs (12" inches) and i can get a Monster Cable off ebay for like 50 so take that off the top too.

if i were you i wouldnt just go in a store and buy any ole box. i'd make or have made a custom box built to the specs of the sub or subs. you sub is only going to be as good as the box you put it in. so box specs are very important.

ive never heard any MMATS, but just by looking at the specs, i think those TC-1000's would blow this woofer away.

mmats used to make descent spl stuff back in the late 90's, but I havn't heard any of their recent stuff.

The problem with the tc1000's is that his budget for the box probably isn't gonna cut it. The only way he is gonna get a box for $30-50 is if it's sealed, which I would avoid with them unless he wants to try a linkwitz transform...but that isn't something I would recommend to a noob.
