Hey Chad. Thanks man, I haven't seen you in a long time too, how have you been? Glad to hear you still got the car, but sad to hear it's out of commission. What happened to the engine?

The oil pump locked up and broke the Cam!!! Not happy about it, This summer I am going to be pulling the engine out and going threw it. Was not a good sound to hear it brake. Oil pressure started acting up, about a mile from home it broke the cam. I thought it was just the oil pump so I replaced the oil pump. Put it back together and it was knocking. Call the dealer and told them what happen. Two different shops both said the same thing. Broke the Cam. Had a guy at work did the same thing to his 3.1L.

Haven't seen that screen name in a while. Didn't you get a different cam or no? Thats kind of scary that the oil pump did that, but I guess it could happen with extreme driving conditions. Hope you can get it up and running again, do you still plan to autox with it?

Dang, that sucks. I guess thats what can happen with a hollow core cam. Hopefully it didn't damage the cam bearings or any of the rest of the valvetrain. I'd pull the heads off and check the valves, pushrods, rockers etc just to be sure. At least you'll have a chance to update all the gaskets though. Do you have all the parts already?

No, I never got the cam for it. I am looking into doing it this summer. As for Autocross, I have a neon for that. That is why the Grand AM has been setting for now. Trying to get the neon the way I want it. I have some work to do to it this spring and than I am moving to the Grand Am.

That is what I was plaining on doing this summer, I am hoping the valve Train is ok. If not will have to upgrade it. If the cam bearing are bad than I may just pick up a different Engine. If it is ok I am wanting to get a aftermarket cam and do alittle head work. And do all the port matching on everything!!

Have to see how things go this summer.

Heck yeah, there are so many new members on this site from SE michigan too... I think we should try and organize a spring meet of some sort when the weather warms up. Maybe even go cruising or something after xceedspeed.com's spring BBQ at stoney creek or something like that.

I'd certainly be up for it. The G6 is pretty well stock right now, but I'm up for hanging out.

P.S. Aaron, the car is looking great!

^haha, now there's an idea. Hopefully I'll have the car out of storage by then though and be able to make it. I forget when they usually hold that. I know I keep saying I'll run my car at the next one too but.... things are really busy right now and I have a lot of tuning to do still and wheels and DR's to buy yet, so dunno if I can yet.

Still I think we detroit area people were thinking of somewhere closer to meet up than Stanton.

I'm doing well my friend. I did get a g6 GTP. It's the gray coupe with an auto.

So far so good. I got it as a demo from Noonan (surprise!) Morley gave me a pretty good deal on it, and gave me what I owed on the '03 30th GA that I had.

It as all first model year cars has had it's quirks. I had the injectors replaced about a month ago due to failure in the #3. But it was nothing that left me stranded. It just threw a few codes

I know there are little things I can do with it, but I've been so busy recently with other things I just haven't had the time.

Dad and I are currently working on a '23 T-Bucket project as well, so that's eaten up some time and $$ as well.
