The flanges aren't supposed to line up. The studs in the rear exhaust manifold are on an angle, not horizontal. The actual problem I see is that the rear flange is only a two bolt. The stock GA and aftermarket exhausts use three bolt flanges. Can't imagine why they did that, but you are going to have to change the flange on either the DP or the catback and have a new one welded on because that will not bolt in. Way to go ZZP!

borla or pace setter for a direct bolt on

and i think that is crappy, ZZP implies that it is direct fit, not direct if you have a welder fit

I think someone who has purchased the downpipe should email them about that flange. If they claim its a direct fit, then it should be. They have a good rep. with the grand prix crowd and Im sure they would be willing to do something about upholding that rep. with the ga crowd too. (i.e. proper flange in future, or shipping you one that will work.)

^Good point, they shouldn't advertise it as direct fit if it isn't.

I called ZZP and spoke with the sales operator, as I was planning on ordering a replacement since I can't find anyone that stocks a magnaflow direct bolt in cat (back ordered).

I explained the situation about 2 bolt rear flange and that the grand am has a 3 bolt flange. She put me on hold and came back and said thanks for letting them know and that they would be removing it from their website until the problem is addressed.

Apparently it was test fitted on a 3400 impala, not a grand am.

I think the front flange that mounts the manifold may be out of alignment as well. You'll find out for sure when the shop takes your stock unit out.

Their website is now updated for the 3 bolt flange.

well have fun with that one...its a good thing you realized that now i guess instead of when it wasnt an opportune time, lots of places that have the high flow cats that arent very big at all, like random tech, aaron knows of a place called voracious or something like that, take ur pick

Well why do Mustang V6 with aftermarket dual exhaust and Catless Xpipe or Hpipe any different with a Grand Am GT with the Catless Downpipe?
