The wings on the cobalt grand am racing cars are functional.. and they are the same as the street cars... the wing .. frame.. block.. everything. So that makes in funtional right? The frame is an proven opel racing frame.

A - Some people like quality in their car. All around. People are making a large leap when buying a car as a substantial amount of money goes toward it every month for years. The interior is the part of the car that you're most exposed to on a daily basis. If something feels cheap in this particular setting, it has potential to make or break a deal.

B - Reread his post. He said nothing about function. He said it flows nicely with some cars; as in...the lines or contours of the car.

C - See ya.

I coud go on... cheap ass armrest (or complete lack there of), lack of real temperature gauge, 5 speed manual when the competition gives 6, 4 speed auto when the competition gives 5, unlockable glove box, no navigation option, no auto up windows.

It sounds like I'm nitpicking the car to death, but all these things deter me from buying the car when competitors offer them.

Edit: At least you don't own a Ford Focus or Dodge Caliber- then you'd REALLY hate me. Be glad you own the nicest American compact car.

I don't even know that my moms Escalade has auto up windows... sometimes its just like, "what the hell, GM?"

Who needs an armrest when you are in a manual? ss/sc is ONLY manual. on hand steering wheel one hand shifter.. navigation is an option.. ask for anything from a dealer and they will give it to you.. (usually in the ass) There is a temp gauge.. its digital.. Who needs 6th gear when 5th will get you 150+.. the 6th gear is not needed in the car. My windows are auto.. and they go up. hehe

Edit: Keep in mind i am talking about an SS/SC. They are quite a different car from regular cobalts. Ive driven cobalt rental cars for work and there is a MAJOR difference in quality of interior and overall feel.. I don't like regular cobalts and will agree with you its a cheap car. but yes much better than what they replaced.

Aaahhhhhh, and there it is. Only took 3 pages, but there it is.

And the arm rest thing... yea, kinda dumb on a manual.

gear ratios my freind. my redline has done 140, and I only slowed because I ran out of highway. this was next to a gtp btw. and I get well over 25mpg highway with some very spirited daily driving.

Manual armrests FTW. Seriously I hate cruising with a buddy that doesnt have an armrest. Makes the whole ride feel weird.

BTW my friend has a 05 Lancer 5 spd and it has an armrest.

To rest the arm when you are cruising the highway.

Oh for the other person in your front seat.

And IIRC the GTO comes with one and Mustangs do too.

Most cars have an arm rest on a manual, they are just trying to make themselves feel better about getting ripped off by GM.... then again, well all got ripped off by them one way or another.

Really, if you were to go on a long road trip you wouldn't want an armrest?

Navigation is NOT an option on the Cobalt. OnStar turn by turn is not a navigation system...

A digital water temp gauge is not a real temp gauge- GM mad it digital to lower the cost of the interior. Thats the whole point of this discussion.

Every other "performance-economy" car offers a 6 speed transmission. Sentra Spec-V, MS 3, Civic Si, RSX-S (RIP). The only competitor that doesn't have a 6 speed is the old as dirt WRX- and that will change next year.

The armrest discussion is stupid. You're trying to convince someone who regularly drives 10 hrs to michigan, then back, and this is the first time I've even thought about the arm rest. Not really looking to take a nap in the car or anything.

Hmmmm Im sorry but im a big guy and I love me an armrest. If the car is that small that it doesnt have an armrest then I wont buy that car. Its just the breaking point for me. Like some people want a big glovebox or trunk for me its the armrest.

You still didnt counter his three other really valid points. Thats ok though just keep trying to convince me I dont need an armrest.

They are useless, our cars are not fast enough to need a spoiler, not to mention they're not rear wheel drive. You dont need down pressure on the rear. Its there for aesthetics
