Moda MD2, Any one seen these wheels or have them?

Im trying to find more about them, but from what I can gather they are fairly new, as they don't seem to be instock anywhere, and I can only find 1 or 2 places that have them.

From Tire Rack:

Size Selected: 18x8
Price: $215 (each)
Estimated Availability: 04/30/07
Recommended Tire Size: 235/50-18 (I assume this is based off the Grand Prix, and we would want to use 245/35/18)

Note: See specific installation hardware
included at no charge.

Additional Specs

Bolt Pattern: 5-115

I can't find the offset, I also had to select the 2005 grand prix gtp to get these to show up, and if I remember correctly, if they fit that car, they fit the GAGT

EDIT: Added picture of second option of the MD2 Wheel. Black is my personal favorite, atleast for my color car.

Never seen those before. Kinda cool looking. Tire size you'd really want is 245/35-18, thats what I plan on getting when I get new wheels. 235/40-18's will read 2.2% too slow on the speedometer. 245/35's will read 0.4% too fast because they are closer to the stock diameter, and you get more rubber for the road.

On an 8" wide wheel?

I will have to play with the tire calculator some more. I just hope I can find these wheels soon, as I think they would look sweet on my car.

Your right, 245/35/18 is much closer. Probably better to be going a tad slow than I think i am anyway, but its alot closer than the 235/40/18.

My thoughts exactly.... $215 per wheel is more than I wanted to spend, but these wheels really stick out in my mind as being the ones I would be happiest with. If not these, then 077's, but I really think these would look better, or at least different, but different in a good way.

Then right click the red X and click show picture. If that doesnt work, then I dont know what your problem is.....

go to www.Tirerack.com and search for them. The pics are linked directly from there, so if you dont see them here, you wont see them there...

Agreed. I am trying to establish contact with 3 different dealers to get more information about them. I will post up what I find out, if anything. I really want those black ones, especially since it seems as though the Eagle 077's have been discontinued, at least, dealers are out of stock and are back ordered, so they tell me...

Sure. The tire manufacturers usually have a recommended wheel width for their tires, then they have a range of widths that they will fit. The stock 225/50's are only on 6.5" wide rims. I have 235/45's on 17x7" wheels right now. You can fit a 245 on 8" no problem. The only thing to keep in mind is the shorter the sidewall is, the less width range you can have. Only really a problem when you start getting into 30 series on 19-20" wheels.

btw. thats the same tire size calc I use. That things great.

Well, I got an email back from tire rack, they wont give me the offset, they wanted to know my car before they would give me any info on the wheel... and they just said, well it wont fit that car.....

Anyway, someone else may need to email them now and say it for an 05 grandprix gtp or something and see if they can get the offset... tirerack doesnt seem to be helpfull at all... are they afraid people will be able to come back on them if they get wheels that wont fit?

They might be telling you it won't fit because the wheel maker might say it's a 114.3x5 bolt pattern and our car is specified as a 115x5 bolt pattern, but those wheels would fit just fine. They always do. I'd just email the company that makes the wheel and ask for specs. That's always the best thing to do. Then if they end up being the right size just go ahead and order them.

5x115 is the bolt pattern, its the offset I cant find.... and tirerack is unwilling to tell me. I will have to see if I can find teh contact info for the wheel company.

Hello,

We have an 18x8 5-115 offset 45mm. The wheel would come with no hardware (lugs, centering rings, etc) and no fitment guarantees because this would be a custom application.
Thats from Neal O'Neal at tirerack. So now I need to contact the company and see what offsets they offer, but its not looking good for the Grand Am... dang it all, there really arent anywheels out there I like.... 077's are impossible to find now, and Im not sure I dig the hotswaps after seeing these.

Those would probably fit just fine. If anything, you might need some 5-10mm wheel spacers, but thats not even likely. As long as they are lug-centric wheels (which most are these days) you won't need centering rings either. The wheels are centered by the lug nuts, not the hub.

Don't know how big those lug holes are, but they look kinda small. Some tuner wheels you can't fit a normal size hex socket into them for the stock lug nuts, so you might have to buy some tuner lugs (ie mcgard spline drive etc). Won't know until you get them.

Interesting, I thought the max offset was 42? But 45 fits fine?

I really, just dont know quite enough about wheels/tires to just jump on something that I dont know 100% will fit.

As for lugs, I planned on getting something nice and small that requires an adapter to remove them. My buddy got some with his Eagle 052's I think they were, on his grand am, and they look nice.

I just want to make sure that nothing will be rubbing... So, asumming they are 45mm offset only, and it would cause the wheels to rub the struts/shocks whatever, a 5mm spacer would push the wheel out 5mm, making the offset 40mm, making the wheel fit?

I got a quote from a place in canada for all 4 shipped to me for $1200, which is $85 more per wheel than tirerack, but thats not including shipping from tirerack. However, thats more than I want to spend.

Perhaps someone can better explain to me how offset works, and I I could make something like this work?

Assuming my thinking above is correct, then something that has a smaller offset, of 30 for example, would need the inside of the wheel machined out 5mm to make the wheel fit?

I need to do more research on lug centric and other terms apparently.
