Every re-design has gotten worse. I love the bug-eyed ones, really like the 04-05, didn't at all like the 06-07, and the 08 looks even worse.

The woman driving it only adds to the point of them softening the car and making it into a grocery getter, not an auto-crosser. LAME.

You know a new design is bad when even most people on Subaru boards are asking the same thing.

The sedan isn't that bad, but even I wouldn't buy one. When the lease is up my Impreza, I'm hoping to get a used 05+ Legacy GT. Or a diesel legacy if I can afford one.

Maybe they should just put their power train in an Aztec if that's the case...

No, that would be the Forrester XT (same engine & chassis as the WRX) or STI if they ever bring it over here.
Rumor is they will, and the new Forrester Sport is testing to see of there's a market for it.

Or you could convert a WRX to a FMIC and hood w/o a scoop. People would think you're only in a 2.5i, then they'd be in for a surprise.

the front end looks WAY better than 2006-2007 front end though. But the 2004-2005 looks the best.

I really can't believe everyone hates this car so much. I for one am impressed, and the Impreza in a hatch is nothing new... in fact this hatch looks a HELL of a lot better than the ol' wrx wagons!

Seriously, this is a huge step up from the last front end they slapped on 'em!

Honestly, the WRX hatch > Mazda 3 hatch

New Subaru Impreza In Depth

http://www.worldcarfans.com/2070823....preza-in-depth

Quote:
Subaru's totally new Impreza - 'an icon reborn' - hits showrooms next month, with the new car's emphasis to be shifted initially towards its base models, the 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrols. Aimed at tackling market rivals the Honda Civic, VW Golf and Mazda 3, the new Impreza introduces 'iconic' Subaru handling and traction to the class, coupled with torquier, more flexible 'boxer' engines and a roomier five-door body.

But while the base models may cause the majority of sales interest, enthusiasts will be waiting on the WRX and WRX STi models. Sold on a limited run in November, the 2.5-litre turbocharged 'boxer' engine provides the WRX with a gutsier response for 'real world' performance, producing 230 hp at 5,200 rpm with torque at 236 lb ft, now generated at 2,800 rpm rather than 3,600 rpm. Performance and pricing for the WRX STi model, forming the basis for the Subaru World Rally Championship entry, will be released nearer to its spring 2008 debut.

The new Subaru just pisses me off, why can't any car companies now days make anything look different, they just turn around a copy everyone else.

What happened to being different?

EEH. Maybe they should go retro like everyone one else has been and bring back the wedge's they used to put out. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 10.
