99 Delco Pinout

My friend and I are trying to split some wires in my Delco stereo system so that we can hook up my ipod to the stereo. I've done some searches and have found pinouts only to the newer Grand Am stereos. I have a Delco stereo in my '99. If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a picture of the stereo in case it helps:

How do you plan on tapping into the stock radio wires so you can play your iPod through it?

Haha I realize that getting another system would be easier, but keep in mind that it's more expensive and I'd rather spend my money on my home theater system, which I'm upgrading now as well.

Plus we're installing toggle switches in the GA :-). Who doesn't love toggle switches?

BTW, we're just splicing wires. We've already figured out which wires go to which speakers. Just need the pinout for the power and grounds and such.

I don't think your idea will work. Your iPod may be able to run a set of headphones, but do you really think it'll run a pair of full-size car speakers without any other type of amplification?

Seriously, save up some $ and go with an aftermarket unit.

Actually we're running the ipod into the amplifier from some old speakers I have. It'll play plenty loud once it's going through that. There's no way a puny ipod could play car speakers.

Oh and I know it'll work, my friend's already done it in his old Saturn.

you can get a decent Pioneer DEH-P3500 for about $60 shipped off of ebay, the cord to use the aux runs usually around $10-15..you'll have less distortion and a much better quality stereo than that delco.

Here's how it will work:
1 connect all the speaker ground wires
2 install toggle switches between the positive wires to connect the front and back seperately(toggle between 4.0 and stereo)
3 connect amplifier output to front speakers

Well I probably won't be selling the car in the first place. We usually donate our cars once they're undrivable. But we'd want to switch back and forth so you can listen to the ipod in all 4 speakers and listen to the stereo with 4.0

Just get a cheap HU with RCA inputs, then go out to wal-mart and buy a $5 cord that has RCAs on one end, and a headphone jack on the other. Trust me it works...thats how I have mine hooked up in my car

we dont have dolby digital in our cars so its just 6 speakers period. so wat i THINK ur getting at is: like what those factory geared FM things do. like they send the music source thru the FM input wen its active, then goes back to regular radio wen u turn the ipod off right?

Yeah I think you've got the idea. Won't be using FM though.

But nobody has any idea where to get a pinout from?
