Infinity VQ...

...I was just wandering if any of you have ever had any personal experience with this particular sub?

I for think the thing is MONSTEROUS, and just a plain out beast! Talk about bang for the buck, at $150 a piece (+ or - a few for shipping and all that other what-not) this thing POUNDS!

It only has 400 Rms. And is single voice coil. Id stay away from single voice coil subs. And, 150$ a peice? Youd be gettin ripped off.

I never said anything was wrong with it performance wise. If you want a sub like that hen get it. He said it was 150$ a peice, thats totally ridiculous. You can get one of the 12's i have, 2000 watts peak, 1000 RMS, for 125$

Look at the specs of it , plz find me another 12, better then that, at a better price. Kicker's l7 12 is 1500 watts, 750 rms and 200$+ new. Alpines type R's are 1500 watts, 500 Rms and 150$+ New.

so what? a sub is measured how good it is by how many watts it can handle? thats pretty dumb. just cause its 400 watts rms doesnt mean it wont be loud, and doesnt mean it sucks. i perfer a sub with a lower rms, cause you dont need a huge expensive amp to power it. not to mention it doesnt create such a starin on your electrical system.

and a 10" L7 is $350. heres the proof. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kicke...oductDetail.do
if i remember right the 12" is $400.

now that were through the ignorance, those subs are a great sound quality subwoofer. there not quite as good as the G5's but there pretty damn good. its not going to be the loudest sub in the world, but its going to sound better then most subs. and to some people, thats what matters. i give it a green light.

Thanks brother =]]

I also tend to sway toward the mid thousand watt subs.

and, imo, Lanzar... equals poo.

I can find you a better sub, it's not too hard for that price.

Yes, I did some research on MMATS, turns out they're based out of West Palm, which is only about an hour from my parents place (two from mine =[[) and I think I might take a trip out one day.

I was able to get a feel for the p2.0 and it's a beast, it looks like some serious schutff... and then there's the amps... which also seem pretty dern serious.

Worth checking out, that's fo' sho'.

And if you mount it inverted in your box, you can quickly swap out the magnet inserts and see what alignment you prefer. As far as installation flexibility goes, it doesn't get any easier than that. It'll be a very quick lesson on how huge an impact Q has.

ya, i heard 2 P2.5s at a store by me, and all im gonna say is they are impressive. they got the deep clean tones that other subs lacked. he put some alpine type s's on the same amp and UGHHH sounded like garbage haha

I definitely plan on mounting in the down-firing position to make that "Q-swapping" oh-so-much-more easier. =]]

Hell, I don't even completely know what "Q" is, but I know it changes the characteristics of the sub completely.

The Qts is the total Q of the speaker, Qtc is the total Q of the speaker & enclosure combined. Changing the inserts changes the Qts of the speaker(hence the name "Variable Q or VQ), and subsequently the Qtc of the system. I know telling you 'Qts is the total Q' doesn't make sense if you don't know what 'Q' is, so read the definition of Qtc on this page to understand what adjusting the Q of the system will do to the response. The Q descriptions in that link carry over to speaker Q. So now you will know how to judge a speakers inherent response characteristics. Combine that with the Fs and you can get a pretty rough estimate of how a speaker will sound on its own without a box.

Now as another quick tip, an Infinite Baffle installation is where the enclosure is so big that it doesn't have an effect on the speakers response. So in technical terms, the Qtc of the system is the Qts of the speaker, because the box doesn't effect the sound. Combine that info with knowing that the key to getting IB to sound good is to isolate the front and rear waves of the speaker from each other. Now this can come in handy in car audio, as your car doors and rear deck are IB installations. Armed with this info and with your ability to hear the effects of Q first hand with the VQ, you'll have a VERY good idea of how it translates into what you hear.

I've got the perfect 12 VQ, and I love it. The sq is great, and volume is more than enough for me.

RMS Is not all that plays into factor with how subs sounds. There are alot more other factors in this. I never was much of a infinity fan but Alpine Type R are more than a bang for your buck. If you really want to slam try Fi Audio Or Re Audio.

BINGO!

the one i look at the most is sensitivity. the higher, the better. it means that the sub is very efficent with the power you give it. Thus, u dont need a huge RMS rating to us it. and thats not all. look at the type of box you want it in. it depends on your prefrences and what you like in subs. i like Kicker CVRs, or Infinity Perfects.
