Well, I understand the game, I watch hockey, and I still think it should be banned, and that is my opinion, I realize you think differently and thats your opinion.... its time you guys let it go and accept the fact that people have a different opinion than you, and that it doesnt make someone who dissagrees with you any less of a person, you all need to grow the hell up...

Im not sure why I even bother visiting this site anymore anyway... its full of a bunch of cry babies that have nothing better to do that pick on each other anyway... they fell to important to help new people get information, so they flame them... most of you don't even have grand ams any more, the only reason you keep coming back here is because no other forums will allow you to act as immature as you do here.

Im not saying everyone here is an , but there are alot of people here that have alot of growing up to do.

Fighting adds to the excitement of hockey, period. It has always been part of the game and always will be part of the game. Its like this, you dont like the fighting, dont watch it. End of story.

Everyone is entiled to their own opinion. I dont like the fighting, but it wont stop me from watching it.

I don't see anything in that definition that demerits fighting in hockey. They still are courteous to each other after a fight and have grace in losing (a fight)

i agree. I dont really know many fighters from around the league, but seeing that im a sabres fan i know alot about our guy andrew peters. Sometimes when the network has him "miked up" you can hear exactly how it goes down. Last time they did it he got in a fight and you could hear him ask the other guy if he was willing to go, as he was fighting he'd say things like "oh that was a good one"when the guy got a hit in, and after the fight, he didnt say anything degrading or instigating to the other player. For the most part the fights i see in the nhl, the players dont go out to hurt somone. 90% of the injuries in the league are not from anything to do with fighting.

Hockey is really the only sport I know where they will go out and beat the crap out of each other and then go out and shake hands after the series is over. Poor sportsmanship? I think not.

I disagree Mirage... fights in hockey are in fact benefitting the guys out on the ice. They are allowed to vent their anger through a fight instead of not being allowed to and avenging someone with a bone-breaking slash. I believe hockey is the most dangerous mainstream sport. The players are often jarred into the boards in awkward conditions. The ice alone is a dangerous element that no other sport can claim. Goaltenders are especially vulnerable. When they stop and hold on to the puck guys are often slashing and poking away at the puck that could cause an injury. They are also vulnerable to being charged. Hockey needs fights so opposing teams know their limits. Hockey has always allowed fighting and it is imperative that it stays.

You must leave a football game or turn the TV off after the the game is over, or don't watch football. Those guys pound the crap out of each other, and they still shake hands and hug after the game. Like in any sport there are rivalries and some players wont participate in the "congratulations on a game well played" hand shake. However, your right it is different than falling on ice, but that said, there are big hits more often in football, but they arent chasing each other down with sticks either.

More big hits in football? How do you figure that? Most of the contact is between the sumo-sized lineman that line up 6 inches from each other and then hug and push back and forth. Also, just compare the pads between hockey and football. Regular football players wear about as much as a goalie does - and they don't have a frozen piece of rubber traveling 100 mph heading towards them. Not even close.

A second ago on SportsCenter... the joke that the NBA is had something positive. Yao Ming got knocked down by some guy on the Sonics. T-Mac went in shoved that guy. The commentators made the awesome remark that "... was a hockey move. Gotta' stick up for your [guys]. Very nice." I couldn't agree more.

First of all were not talking about football. Thats not the issue at hand. The issue is fighting in the NHL. And if there going out and shaking hands afterwards, how is this poor sportsmanship? You act like fighting is some halacious act that needs to be banned immediately.

yes they where more padding, but they wear more padding because they hit harder and they get tackled as part of the game, if its so gentle and easy then why do so many get injured and some like Sterling sharpe for GB wasnt ever able to play again after his injury, im not so sure he can walk... anyways football is different than hockey, but im sure those guys would love to fight each other in the middle of a game but they dont, and if it even looks like they are about to fight they are tossed out and fined!,, i enjoy watching the fights in hockey, yet i think its pointless and shouldnt be allowed... not only does it delay the game but its completely pointless... if they have a problem take it out on them later with a huge hit and crush the other guy when he has the puck, then you dont take a penalty and he knows you mean business.

Going out and trying to crush someone deliberately to get back at them leads to more injuries. Fighting takes away from acts like these because the person trying to injure the other player will have some badass to answer to afterwards. Like I said....checks and balances. They help maintain equilibrium.

cosign. most fights in hockey do not end with one of the guys getting hurt. guys in hockey get hurt when someone gets pissed and trys to relatiate later on (as was the case with chris simon a few weeks back).


and with the whole football issue, like it has been said most of the hitting is between the lineman. it is rare when there is a huge hit out in the open field. the reason why so many football players get injured is due to the fact they always hit the ground weird and just stick, they don't slide or have that ability as hockey players do on ice.
