Every time I see one of these, I just laugh. I thought the Aztec was goofy but this is a new kind of gross.

What I really think is stupid about the G5 is the lower portion of the bumper is identical to the Colbalt.... infact the lower portion is like a new chevy trademark which is the same on the Impala and Malibu. So basically the G5 straight up tells you "hey I'm a chevy!" |

why does everyone down the G5. It was a car that was created because the dealers were screaming for a cheap 2 door, which pontiac does not an drefuses to offer inthe G6.......
.....anyone else notice the line-up keep shinking?????

It seems like the more "performance" cars they try to introduce, the less of a line-up.

I think it would be smarter to have fewer cars and have them actually be good then to try to fill every single niche with some cars being turds. The Buick division has proven this with the premium/sub-lux game. It's also good that Pontiac gets out of the SUV/Van/Crossover thingy game, GMC should get those since Pontiac has nothing to do with the truck market.
As for the Canadian Wave... Meh... It's an Aveo as much as the G5 is a very poorly rebadged Cobalt. (I think the head of Pontiac should call the team that did G5 and ask for the money back - or do something major to get rid of obvious Chevy panel separations and make the interior better.) And speaking of Aveos, I actually had to drive one as a lender when my GrandAm was in the shop. I'd get more performance and feel more solid on a Radio Flyer being pulled by a three-legged hamster than I would in that thing. Just say no to the Wave being in the U.S.! As for Saturn pulling its weight with innovation and nice cars. Just remember that it's the reincarnation of the Oldsmobile brand. It doesn't take a huge leap of the imagination to picture the Olds logo where the Saturn badge is. (The last generation Olds looked strangely similar to Saturn, I doubt that's coincidence.) And after Olds was axed, Saturn is filling the exact same niche. (Priced somewhere below Buick, not 'sporty' as Pontiac, and doing a lot of powertrain and design experiments which may move to the other lines.) Of course the only thing I don't like is that the new lineup is missing a sizing threshold consisting of sub-midsize and midsize. Grand Am and Grand Prix both replaced by the G6. For me, I found the Grand Am big enough - but not too much. With G6 being more Prix-like, I'd have to downscale for the handling. The G5 doesn't cut it without proper revision. (It could have been good if not for cheating and cutting corners, being worse than 80's badge-engineering.) Which means I'd either change to a much less practical but fun basic Solstice, or leave the lineup for some other brand. Pontiac would do better to stretch the G6 a little, replace the G5 with something bigger, and then do a 'proper' G4. |

Its that same thinking that lead GM to say CADILLAC doesnt need any suvs...the GMC DENALI has that market covered. Remember how caddy then had to scramble to regrille a denalli to call it their own because the market demanded it. If you dont provide the cars people want, they will go elsewere. Pontiac doesn't need suvs.....look at the runaway sucess BMW, Porsche, MB, etc are having with high performance suvs. Just another dumb move of GM offering less models and trying to force people to other divisions.....IT ISN'T GONNA WORK!!!!!!
