the vette could pull near 27mpg on the highway with the LS2 because of it's low weight compared to the GTO/TBSS

The G8 is getting an L76. The LS3 is the "updated LS2", but I think it's more of a new engine than a update. Of course, it grabs much of it's architecture from the LS2/LS1/LT1/etc. Just like the 3500 grabbed from the 3400, 3300, 3.1, 2.8 V6's

There is no official GXP talk or articles, only rumors.

L76 was originally Holden's version of the 6.0 L Generation IV engine. While early models lacked the displacement on demand technology found on some versions, this feature is enabled on the 2008 Pontiac G8. The engine also meets Euro III emissions requirements. Output is 348 hp (260 kW) at 5600 rpm and 376 ft·lbf (510 N·m) at 4400 rpm for the Holden variant, and 362 hp (270 kW) and 391 ft·lbf of torque (530 N·m) for the version to be used in the G8.

From what I understand what that just said is that its holdens version of the Gen IV 6.0 (LS2) that has DOD. So its basically holdens LS2 with DOD. How can that be interperted any different?

I thought you were asking about the LS3

Yes, the L76 has DOD. But the Holden Gen IV 6.0L is not an "LS2". You are incorrectly implying that simply because it is 6 liters and a V8

Ahhh gotcha Bob. I know its not a LS2 but certain sites are saying that its almost identical to it with DOD hardware. No harm done man.

No, but the better fuel economy the better. I'd have no problem driving a car that's faster than a viper and gets 7-10mpg more highway driving. Overall you got a kickass package. I wonder why they got rid of the DoD...

DoD is the last thing I would want in my 50k Vette. Since its at the top of the GM vehicals it should just get amazing mpg/performace because of its spot at the top.

I didn't know that. I could have sworn when they were talking about the new vette (back in like '05 or '06) they said it was going to use DoD.
