Why wouldn't you want DOD on a Vette? If I'm not driving the car at ~90% of it's limits I wouldn't mind some extra fuel economy. The DOD system doesn't add too much extra weight or complexity to pushrod engines.

Anyway, the extra HP boost is nice and builds some excitement for the car before the Blue Devil comes out.

^Because I've heard a lot of people say you can noticably feel it when it turns on and off, and no one would want that on a high end sports car. Maybe if they could smooth it out and make it less noticable? Like only activating/deactivating two cylinders at a time instead of all four at once... who knows.

Interesting, because they claim it shuts off the cylinders in milliseconds and it isn't noticable. Hmm.

Most people buying a vette arent daily driving it and if you're spending 50-60k on a car you arent too worried about fuel economy. Just seems pointless to put it on a high end sports car you dont see Porsche and Ferrari using it.

The 300c isnt noticable at all, except for a light that comes on I beleive.

If it's anything like the DOD system like Chrysler uses, then it's definitely noticable and annoying.

Fortunately the Vette doesn't get <20MPG though

17mpg city/25mpg highway is good fuel economy? the vette can probably get that or better w/o DOD remember the vette is 1/2 ton lighter than a magnum

Of all the true sports cars sold in the world, I'd bet that the Corvette has the highest ratio of daily drivers compared to weekend toys. It's not just about the fuel economy, there's some personal satisfaction in knowing that you are doing your part to save some resources.

About the rough transition, I've never driven a GM car with DOD, but I've been in Honda models with it (granted they are SOHC engines) and I couldn't notice it at all.

ugh...more control sytems...probably has its own computer...more stuff to break....more stuff to pay for that is buried into the price of the car.
