Well without seeing the car Id say it would be a pretty sweet project. I really like the old datsuns a lot. However, I think v8 swaps are a little overdone. Maybe drop in a VQ35DE?

Well the car already has the 350 in it, and it runs. So basically this would mean, selling the 350 that's already in it and saving cash for the VQ, wiring harness, and getting it in there, along w/ another driveshaft to be made for it along w/ some tranny..

Well here is the description of my initial link about the Datsun

Its has .040 over Forged pistons and all ARP hardware. the intake manifold is a Weiand and it has an Edelbrock 550 cfm carb. Has a set of brand new Sanderson block hugger header. The cam is a 450 lift RV style cam. Starts up and sounds great! The motor only has about 40 miles on it that I put on it when the engine was in my Chevelle. The car is gutted, but I have all the interior and the seats and door panels have just be reapolsterd. I have a 8 point roll cage that Im in the middle of putting in and that goes with it along with a set of Autometer gauges like 5" tach and oil pressure and water temp, the big size ones that fit perfect in the factory dash. The tranny is a Th350 that ****s great and comes with a Flexalite tranny cooler. Theres is a box full of random small block chevy parts and random stuff that comes with it. First $1800 takes it.

I'm not gonna lie, but I hate the bumpers that went on them in the 1980's... absolutely gross.

it actually crossed my mind to do this but decided against it since it would take to much money and time that i dont have right now.

you have to do a full bottom and top end build up as well as find a turbo that is rated to make that much hp.

guys maybe I should have mentioned that I was considering this as a cheap cruiser type project instead of a project from the sounds of you guys would easily reach $10000-20000.

I was thinking of a project that would be all said and done at $8000. Ya know some suspension, satin black paint w/ pinstripping, new wheels, original interior redone in satin black vinyl, and just make sure the motor is in good running order.

One of my buddies here at school is in the middle of putting an older 350 into a 88 rx7. he is leaving most of the stuff as is and plans on replacing it as it breaks, but as it stands he will be into the project for under $7000, including the car, motor, and all perf parts for the motor. Should be a pretty sweet car once its running. I would go for it if you can afford it.
