If you're mom is really set on the wing staying this is what I'd do... go out some night at like 3 am, break it off with a baseball bat or just unbolt it or something, and say someone stole it. Problem solved!

No, but seriously, it's not that bad. If you have the funds and the effort, I'm pretty sure you'll have a nice turnout. Just make sure you make it look 'nice,' and not an iwannamakemycarlookalloverthetoppimpedout vehicle. There's a fine line and some people often make this mistake. Grand AMs aren't the first thing that pops into a person's head when they think "sports car," and that is why that spoiler must go. It makes the car a joke right off the bat.
I would just play with simple mods right now. Paint, suspension, wheels. I'm sure it'll go a long way from where you are now...
