Not just a cap will stop your lights from dimming. The biggest improvment I saw was getting a Ho put alt. So in MY experiences HO alt > back up battery > cap.

My buddy had a grand am and cracked his spoiler with his system. It wasn't anything outrageous, but I would watch it, especially since you say yours is moving already. His rear view mirror also fell off completely, and he had some bad rubbed out spots where the trunk lid hits the bumper cover.

tighten your lisc plate screws as tight as you can, grab ahold of the 2 bottom corners of the lisc plate, and ever so slightly bend the plate some so that it wonttouch to the bumper.i bent mine while the system was on so that i could bend a little at a time.problem solved

A lot... Like I said, easy way to stop rattling and problems such as that, turn your box around and have it facing you not the trunk. It wont hit quite as hard but you also will have a lot less rattles because all the air isnt being pushed right at the trunk.

Capacitors just put more strain on your alternator. Adding a cap gives the alternator another load to charge along with the battery and other electronics. Yeah, it may keep your lights from dimming but your amps will be recieving slightly less power and in the long run it's harming your alternator more.
If you only need a little help, upgrading the 'big three' is the smarter thing to do. Sorry this is off the main topic but I think capacitors are unless they have really low ESR ratings than in that case they're kinda useful.

x2 on what Bryan said, I've never had any positive experiences with caps nor have my friends. My buddies lights were dimming, so he got a cap, ended up spendin about 100 bucks, did absolutely nothing. ---->IMO<---- I think caps are kinda useless.

It may hit a little harder and more solid on heavy bass notes but it'll continue to harm your alternator. It also gives your amp less power (nothing noticeable really) since the alt is now charging the capacitor there'll be a small drop in voltage to the amp.

People that have cracked spoilers, how many watts on the sub(s)? How loud do you crank it up?
If subs are that powerful to crack the spoiler, I would be more worried about my ears........ |
