Installed WAI
i put on a WAI sort of. i bought a Spectre filter from Auto Zone, and attached it to the MAF on my intake. i took off the top cover of the air fliter box, and let the new filter kind of lay inside the air box. hopefully, i can get a little bit of air flow from my ram air still, but i doubt i will get much.
so far my throttle response is better, and i believe i may have taken .4 seconds off of my 0-60, but i have no proof except for my stop watch. on with the pic. sorry for such a dirty engine bay. ![]() |

not to rib, just let the flaming begin.
but i will say, good idea to keep the ram air in there i havent seen that yet. i want to get a cai but for 170 bucks from MP R i can spend that money on a muffler and get more gains

usually if you open up the intake to let more air in, you gotta open up the exhaust to get that air out.
they work hand in hand to deliever more gains, im just going for a cheap solution for the time being |

A muffler wont net you more gains, IMO you would get more from a CAI than a muffler.

I just recently got a CAI from MP Racing and its damn nice. Mark doesnt lie when he talks about the couplers and quality of the piece. It literally took 5 minutes to get it to go on once I figured out what was suppose to go where. Its WELL worth it.

damn now im confused. a few people i just talked to on aim about GAs said that you'd see more gains getting a higher flowing exhaust than modding the intake first. which way is it? and what gains can i see from a cai; real fender one

Well the CAI's much more affordable and would help the exhaust a tad when/if you get it done.
Edit: Woot, 1,000th post.

Your not going to notice enough gains to brag about anyway... its going to come down to whether or not you want to hear a louder exhaust. Im still debating on the CAI myself... but I just dont know... I think Im fine how I am with the stock air box and SLP/Magnaflow setup I have. Now... I might get the CAI just to see if it changed my exhaust note any, but I doubt it would... just seems like money better spent on beer or something... but I dont know. |

I did exhaust, but I was after a cool sound not performance, and I love it. The drone can suck at times, but 90% of the time, I love it.

Honestly with my exhaust it was a very very small gain if anything. It really just changed the exhaust note more then anything. With the CAI I already feel a difference and that is just with a few minutes of driving.
Also a CAI is far cheaper. Plus teh growl from under the hood is rather cool. It also gives the magnaflow muffler I got a few more rasps when Im coming off WOT. |
