Yea they are tiny gains really. It does help especially with the 3400 though.

I figured AJ would point out the humor in the stop watch theory. Your car isnt going to be noticably quicker just from an intake...its all in your head, a lot of people think the same thing. Also, the only way exhaust will help your HP gains is if you are running forced induction, or a lottt of NA stuff. Either way, gotta love the growl of a intake

the first is that you have to watch the road, watch the speed, drive the car, and start/stop the stop watch..that's alot to be doing, which means your concentration level is low, and you may be tempted to jump the gun inorder to make up for that. the human body is no competition for a computer when timing such things. sorry, but 0.4 sec's off? absurd. with an WAI and nothing else done (atleast that i could see)? even more absurd. butt dyno ftmfl, sorry. ![]() i'm not trying to be an ass..well, i don't think i am. just pointing out that your method of timing is inaccurate and open to many errors.

For the record, I am that AIM person, and I didnt say you'd get more gains from a MUFFLER, I said from upgrading your exhaust (HF cat, bigger pipes, muffler) youd see more gains then a CAI. Like someone else said, they work together, so freeing up the exhaust will help the intake, and getting an intake with the exhaust already upgraded will show more gains then an intake on a stock exhaust system. And for the 10th time youll notice a slight gain with a CAI, 5 Hp is realistic.

^^^ exactly, just getting a muffler wont get you anything at all. A FULL exhuast you will see a decent difference. What i mean by full exhuast is headers, HF cat, cat-back and a HFing muffler, 2.5" from the headers to the muffler. Now that shaved off .5 seconds for me in the 1/4.
A CAI is cheap and sounds cool, so why not. I personaly did both CAI and FULL exhuast in the same week.

Its not hard at all. Hardest part for me was breaking the lugnuts. Then trying to find all the nuts that held on the stupid stock "intake"

Yup. Its seriously that easy. You have to pull off the wheel to get to the inner fender area to take out the stock intake. You will see. Its rather simple. There has to be a how to with pics on this site.

they were probably put on with an impact wrench..it's a bit harder to remove by hand if this is the case..but it doesn't make it impossible..just more elbow grease is needed.

That and I didnt have my tire iron with me. I had to use the lug nut key and that crappy wrench that comes with the car jack.
