2007 Altima 3.5se vs Mazdaspeed6
I am getting rid of the GAGT in favor of one of the cars in the title. Driven both. Like both. Mazda has the performance I want, but altima has the comforts that will come in handy over the next 5-7 years (I'm 24 right now).
Does anyone have experience with either cars or know someone who owned a Mazdaspeed 6 of any year? I'm nervous about the reliability of this car. I read many posts about issues, but its so fun to drive. Appreciate comments. |

Every car sooner or later will have issues. I say get the car you know you will enjoy for a long time. I dont know about the Nissan but my friend has a Mazdaspeed 6 and its fun as hell to drive.

my buddy has a 07 3.5l Altima. he's taken it to the dealership 3x due to a squeeking noise. they said it was the alternator pully, but that didnt seem to fix it. sounds like they have no idea why its making the noise. just and FYI.

ive driven the previous body style 3.5SE and its FAST. its faster than the ms6, but not by much. the 07 with the CVT feels smooth and therefore feels slower, but it is still fast. not sure if its available in stick anymore, but if it is, id go that route. v6> i4 IMO

altima. if you're going to keep it for a long time, i'd stick with something you know you won't get sick of, and when you're 27/28 riding around in it, it'll fit your needs.

The MS6 is much faster than the Altima. 14.0 qtr mi and I have seen vids of stock ones running 13.8s. The altima is more of a 14.6 car.
The maxima does not come in six speed. |

Altima 3.5se hands down. They are sweet cars. I'd take one right now if I was ready to purchase a car.

I just bought the 2007 Altima 3.5SE. I love it, no problems in the few weeks I have owned it. I love all the features it has.
The wife drives a 2006 Mazda3 and because of how useless the dealership is we will never buy another Mazda again. BTW Mazda paint is absolutly horrible

I heard that the paint damages easy. And that its transparent??? I dont really understand this....
Inferno: Is your 3.5 a six speed? Id be getting the manual, although I havent tested the car in stick yet, only CVT and wasnt impressed with the trans/. |

The MS6 is on an old platform that is getting replaced next year. If you get it you'll feel like you are driving an old car as soon as the next generation debuts. I say wait for the next MS6 or get the Altima.

the 6 may look cute and go vroom....but past that its all cheap plastic inside and the paint is terrible
the altima is one of my company car options...i drove one for a week and loved it but went with an suv for baby needs etc...get the altima...best overall

The MS6 definately does go vroom.... Interior isnt much worse than the altima though.
Drove the altima 3.5se in stick on saturday and it is a much different ride than witht hte CVT. It can easily be driven aggresively. Maybe I will have to added some suspension goodies to get it closer to the handling Im looking for. The altima is actually lighter than the MS6 I believe, 3600ish vs 3300ish. Going to nissan tongiht to get a trade in value and price. Mazda wants to give $2k for the 2000 GAGT with 122k miles. Body looks great still, has a sct hood too. Looking to get $3k trade and the price I want on the car. SO hopefully I can make it all net out to what I want. The downside to the Altima is that black exterior and blk leather with 6speed can only be found with Nav and reverse camera..... Extra 2k from the one I built online..... |

Where's the cheap plastic and horrible paint? I don't see any... My whitewater pearl paint jobs looks awesome. Concerning speed, with an intake and downpipe the car will do 13.8 easy.
I think you can get them for a ridiculously good price too... As far as body styles, how long as the current Altima body style been out?

Altima has new style in 2007. See the pic, I'd be getting black and having tint like that. Also threw in a MS6 pic....
IRATE: I have heard that the paint chips easily and appears translucent or something along those lines.... The concerns on the ms6 are that the power varies often for some people as they own the car (ECM issues). Also that people have found differentials to whine and leak at less than 10k miles. Zero issues on the altima from my research so far. |

I have a bunch of the Mazda 6's in my rental fleet at work- 3 of them, the V6 sport models, have been in the shop since March, for blown PCM's. I have a hard time trying to be positive about Mazda's when I have 3 tied up for several months thusfar... |
