35% Window Tint

Im thinking about putting 35% tint all around on my grand am but i want to make sure i will like it first. If you have tint on your car, preferably 35%, post some pics please so i can get an idea of how dark it is. (BTW, im only getting 35% because its the legal limit in KY, and cops just pulled my friend over the other day for 20% tint, so i ant taken no chances.)

Check your state laws again.

See: International Window Film Association - State Law Chart

Explanation of the State Law Summary Chart

It says that a car can legally tint the front door windows 35% & the rear windows 18% (with a 25% reflectivity limit on all the windows tinted).
& must have certified sticker on the driver's door.

IMO, Don't get 35% tint all around. It is too light.
Get 35% on the front doors & 18% on the rear.

PS: Don't forget that the windows stock, already have a minor tint value to them.
Example: So you need to tint front windows less than 35% value; to stay legal with a final product of 35%.
IIRC: stock windows are like 70%
So get 50% tint on the front windows & just above 25% tint on the rear windows.
Check with the window tint shop to clearify; not sure on the stock tint #'s.

Mike Jung, is there anything you don't know?

Bryanwhitegt, nice look with the tint, Jphipps187 you should go with the 35% all the way around in imo. I don't like the look of light on the front and dark on the back, to me it doesn't flow right...but that's just me, depends on what YOU like.

I agree. Im pretty sure im gonna get 35% all the way. Another question....dont most tint shops offer a strip to put on the front windsheild at the top or something? Is that something i should do or what?

Yeah, you can get that. Most people just get that in 5%. Make sure you check your state laws on how far to go down though.

Yeah, the amount of how far down it can go was posted on the link above.

Uhm.
Yeah, I'm thinking about getting a light tint.
I don't want something to cause problems with my vision, but I want it to look good :]
and be legal, .

I think it's 5 inches or not past your factory glare strip. I'm not sure, that's how it is in NC anyway.

There's actually a physical line on the windsheild called the AS1 line, you can tint the windsheild down to that, any farther and it goes from legal to illegal.

Same % all around.

I cannot stand when people do that crap, no reason for it.

35% Front, 20% Back

Personally, 35% all around was too light on my black car, which is why I went darker in the back.

P.S. Disregard the dead looking grass. This pic was taken in early spring before the grass came out of dormancy.

i usually dont like those stock rims stlgagt, but on your car for some reason it works pretty well. i like the tint too. tinting on a black gagt is a must and looks slick as ever when its done

Dizzy21 hey everyone, I'm a newb!
I had limo in the back and 20 in the front and it looked pretty solid....that is until i got rolled

Im tinting my front windows with limo this weekend because i cant stand the transition from the back to the front. Also, when people are next to me i feel like they are staring at me like im in a fish bowl or something.

It looks aight if u do like 20 35 or limo 20, as long as the transition isnt too big where you can tell all the time.

Come on coupe, no reason??? the reason for tinting the back darker is to make the front darker but still keeping it legal.

True that..but a lot of the time, like in Michigan, it's illegal either way so why not go all the same?
