Honda Civic Mugen RR

Quote:
It was rumored yesterday, and it's real today. Come September 13, Japanese enthusiasts will be able to order up the hottest Civic Type R yet. The already-impressive R gets the full once-over from Mugen, and the result is the Honda Civic Mugen RR. Designed to be perhaps the ultimate front-engined/front-wheel-drive performance car, the Mugen RR sheds an additional 10kg (22 lbs) off the standard Civic Type R's weight, coming in at 2733 lbs. In addition to the weight loss, the freer-breathing Mugen RR picks up 15 horsepower over the regular Type R. It's rated at 240 horses at 8,000 rpm and 160 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm.

Complementing the added power and and decreased weight are a new bodykit, upgraded brakes all around, a retuned suspension, new wheels and tires, and logo-emblazoned Recaro sport buckets. Availability is limited to 300 cars, all in the Milan Red finish shown, and the pricing in Japan has been set at ¥4,777,500 ($38,750 USD).

Mugen's official website has a video of the car lapping Japan's Tsukuba circuit in 1:06:68, which is worth a look if you're interested in seeing it in action.

looks like a RSX in the back. what you guys think about that 8400 rpm redline. god thats high. sucks for the driver to have to rev it up to 7000 to get any power out of it. i like our cars where the power kicks in at 3500-4200.
do i like it tho? i dont know

It's ok. Make it into a 2 door and there would be a bigger demand.

22 lbs lost and 15 HP gained... OMG alert car and driver.... This is the car to end all cars.

*shrugs* Same ole honda... high strung motors with no useable power to speak of. Great for the track but **** on the streets unless you want every cop for three blocks to think you're racing.

It actually looks good though... have to admit.

38 grand for that car?? Man do they know how to play to the fanboys. Anyone that buys that car is ONLY doing it because it's a Civic. There's a boatload of cars that would be just as fast (not to mention actually drivable) for less money.

I like it ... my next car IS going to be a Honda .. not sure if it will be that one but it is nice.

Just checked the Honda site for future cars and it is coming out this year with a starting price tag of under $30,000.00

Yeah, they are playing to fanboys. The article said they are only producing 300 of them so maybe thats why somebody will justify the $38k price.
