The article you read is for Japan... they are the ones getting 300 of them made and around the $38K price tag. All of them for Japan will be the color red also. For the United States they are making about 1000 and a price tag under $30k also avalible in other colors. I am sure they are not knowing were this will lead yet so this car will probably only be made under a limited addition.
I went to the build your own civic in Hondas website and if i had a car built the way i wanted it to be with out any after market stuff ( which would come later) would cost me about $24k. I can add alot of stuff for the extra $6K.

neat looking but it's still a civic... I say that a lot about SRT4's that they're just neons... I suppose it's true

Wow you could buy an LS2 GTO for less than that...

So wait, I am going to pay 39grand for 240 horsepower? Uh... enjoy that investment.

EDIT: even if it is only 30grand, that is still a lot for an all show/little go car.

I like the look of the Japanese version, better than the North American version.

& it has 225/40/18" tires (vs 215/40/18" tires), & dual exhaust outlets (vs single exhaust outlet)

Awesome, so I can look forward to seeing one of these being wrapped around a post in the near future. Damn street racers! We've had 2 deaths in as many months here due to street racing, and both involved drivers not racing. When are kids gonna learn!

On a side note, I have a hard time justifying ANY HONDA in that price range, they are going to end up in the same boat as GM overpricing themselves like that for the market.

IIRCC, like 17% of new GM automotive pricing is due to health care cost for their employees, could be wrong.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced yesterday that the 2008 Civic MUGEN Si Sedan will enter the market in mid-October. The 200 hp factory-prepared MUGEN model, of which Honda revealed a prototype at SEMA in 2006, comes with a sport-tuned exhaust system, an aerodynamic body kit, high-performance suspension and forged aluminum wheels.

"Honda enthusiasts have long been asking for factory-installed MUGEN performance products similar to what the company offers in Japan," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. "We're enthusiasts, too, and the ultra-premium Civic MUGEN Si Sedan offers exclusive style and elevated handling performance with legendary Honda refinement."

The MUGEN Si will be a limited-production vehicle with only 1,000 units produced for the
2008 model year, retailing for less than $30,000. What are you waiting for!?
