Good deal. Like I said above, it may be worth trying to use the stock deck if you wanna save some $, but optimally you'd install an aftermarket one. And yes, the stock headunit puts out power just like any other stock headunit, just not a whole lot of it.

Installing a new headunit is straightforward, except there's no switched power wire coming out of the stock wiring harness. To get a switchd power wire for the aftermarket radio, you'll need to run a wire from the fusebox (left-side of the dash) to the headunit. You can tap into the wiper fuse for switched power.

When you install the rear speakers, at the same time you'll need to either:
a) bypass the Monsoon amp (for rears only) using my handy tutorial: Bypassing the factory Monsoon amp
or
b) run new speaker wire from the headunit to the rear speakers.

The difference is negligible, since we're only talking ~20w of power coming from the headunit. Bypassing the amp at the amp harness is easier, faster, and cheaper.

thats not 100% true, cuz if you get the "real" harness it's simply plug n play. but of course its like a 60 dollar difference. 20 for the el cheapo harness or 80-100 for the good one.

I'm running the standard, no-chime harness. I think you're right about the other one.
