Holden VE Ute Range Released

http://www.worldcarfans.com/2070822....range-released

Quote:
Today Holden has released the much anticipated Holden VE Ute range, consisting of the VE Omega, SV6, SS and SS V models. The VE Ute shares most of its genetic make-up with the Holden VE Commodore, Holden's current best seller car which is on the verge of going global through the Vauxhall VXR8 in the UK and Pontiac G8 in the US. The VE Ute will be built locally and prices start at AUD 30,990 for the Omega base model.

The Omega comes with a 3.6 liter V6 Alloytec engine producing 180kW (241 hp) and 330 Nm torque in combination with a four-speed automatic or the 3.6 liter V6 High Output Alloytec engine putting out 195 kW (261 hp) and 340 Nm torque with a six-speed manual transmission. The SV6 is powered by the same High Output Alloytec V6 but also features a sports suspenion amongst others.

The SS and SS V models are powered by GM's new Gen IV 6.0 liter V8, good for 270 kW (362 hp) and 530 Nm of peak torque, where the SS V builds on the SS but adds a range of features like 19 inch wheels and a 150 Watt sound system.

Mr Gubbey, GM Holden Chairman and Managing Director: “The ute’s development tells the story of Australia. Today’s ute is about working hard, playing hard and enjoying an active lifestyle.”

Just a replacement for the Thunder Ute- I love it though. It's pretty much a GTO with a pickup bed on it... I don't think there are any plans to bring it here though.

Thunder Ute and interior on the Ute for anyone curious:

Im not sold on it yet. Id have to see one in person to see how small they are.

What I do like is the SS version. I mean does everything Holden sell have a huge V8 option??

They have been making those in Austrailia for years now. I was hooked on them long before the GTO was re-released to the North American market. If the Ute was going to see N/A shores, it probably would have been released some time ago with the GTO. I LOVE that car, but not too hopefull that it will ever see it on the roads here, never mind in Canada.

That's exactly why they aren't sold in Canada. About 6-7 years ago, there was a local Doctor who had imported one of the Utes and I though that it was a total custom job until I realized the it was RHD Being an older generation, it looked like a Monte Carlo SS front end mated to a modified Malibu rear end. Still love the GTO's though.

get a G8 and paint it green then. heh.

it would be awesome to import one of these. the RHD would be crazy. i bet after the G8's come out you could do a LHD conversion, but who would want to hack up there new, sweet car?
