trunk battery mounting ideas

-hey guys im gonna add a DEKA 9A78DT (http://www.remybattery.com/ProductIn...oductID=9A78DT) to my car in the trunk. I have dimming problems at idle and I have a 4 channel amp i just gotta get fixed but of course i should fix the dimming a lil before i add any more strain on everything.
-so, what are some "easy" thoughts to mount that thing in the trunk. i have a 4 gauge run right now, and ill just use that for the 2nd battery with another fuse in back.
-any over all thoghts too are gooooz

I can't help any about having a second battery, but I know Mark, (laxjax13) just recently relocated his battery to the trunk. Could ask him for details on what he did, it might help.

Told you you should do it how I have it. Off to one side or corner of the trunk and hidden in a box, I think the exposed battery and all the wires looks tacky.

I used 4 Gauge power cable and ran it through to the trunk.
The battery takes a while to crank however. I used 20ft of cable which is way to much, im going trim it down soon hopefully it fixes the slow draw problem.

i just drilled 4 holes and put nuts and washers on the bottom, and sealed around the holes with silicone.
hope that helps

2nd battery wont help your dimming. if anything it will make it worse. 2nd batterys are only good for if your car isnt running. but if it is running then the alt is going to be trying to work even harder to charge 2 batteries at once.

you can do what you'd like and argue or what not, i'm just trying to save you time and money.

I beg to differ seeing as how I had HORRIBLE dimming with my new system, I got my back up battery still from my old Se and he hooked it up the other day, no dimming whatso ever. Before, The amp was at 1/2 gain and only at 1/2 volume, and i still got dimming. Now, none. So, maybe a second battery DOES help?

I understand where you are coming from with the whole putting a bigger load on the alt, because it obviously it does. Thats why they make HO Alts But you said it will make the dimming worse, which in my car and everyone else I know with a second battery, it eliminated it.

Putting a 2nd battery will put strain on the altinator. It was only built to charge one battery. Could it do 2 batteries, yes but it will shorten the life of it.

Be a smart guy and buy yourself a high out put altinator and a yellow top . It will save you time and money and it will do the job you are looking for.

I can show u a car that has 2 yellow top batteries and it still dims. ( FACTORY ALT IN THE CAR) But then again there are 3 1250 watt mono block amps in the car.

If that was directed at me, show me someone who makes a HO alt for an 03+ Ga and I will gladly buy it. Till then I dont have much of a choice.
