If you're replacing the stock speakers, PLEASE just bypass the Monsoon amp and get a normal pair of 6x9s. You will thank yourself later, especially if you're running an aftermarket deck.

Then if you decide to amp them later, you've already got the speaker wires you need to tap into right there.

I am pasting the link below...if I am out of line...I am sorry...just trying to help..

ok, so i know the monsoon amp is garbage so i wouldn't keep that around anyway. but i am a newb and pretty clueless when it comes to wiring and such. if you go to crutchfield, they tell you that whole spiel about the rear speakers. i just can't believe there isn't an adapter to make any replacement speakers work with the stock amp. god forbid something simple so us gomers can get better sound.

i wish there was a how to with detailed instructions and quality pics for people like me, because if i do it myself i will get confused and give up.

i would like to replace the factory radio since it doesn't play mp3s, have satellite radio built in, have an aux port, and a legible LED display.

FWIW, once you replace the stock headunit (which can be done with no issues) it's pretty easy to just bypass the stock amp which makes it easy to install aftermarket speakers AND get full-range sound out of 'em. And it won't cost you anything except a little time (under an hour) and maybe some butt-connectors (or electrical tape if you really wanna do it on the cheap).

Shameless plug to my own Monsoon amp bypass thread:
Bypassing the factory Monsoon amp

As far as being a pain in the butt to replace factory stuff: It wasn't always like this. 10-15 years ago you never had to worry about factory amps, etc. unless you were working on an Infiniti or some 'high-end' Bose system. I remember installing a tape deck/CD changer in an old M30 and needing an $80 headunit kit to send power to the small amps that were attached to EACH factory speaker.

Otherwise, headunit and four speakers, that was it! Those were the days...
