I would stick with a single L7 in a slot port box. If your trying to save trunk space i would go sealed but i am pretty sure even sealed requires a big box.

No my point is that, you are telling people that you would never use a name brand. WHY not? Wouldnt you want to better what ever you have. I guess not.
Respect, I have alot of respect for people on this board. Ignorant LOl far from it my freind. If your asking for an opion I will give it. Either u can afford it or not, its still an opion. Just rember those cheap RCA that was giving you noise. Hence the work cheap. Can you score, u bet u can but it has to be right, not just ordinary. As far as bestbuys goes, thats mainstream, commerical,, but i will say this, every once in a while they have something really good ( or at least the one around me does). When was the last time you seen best buy carry a stroker sub?

So the 15 has less..but it's still a significantly large area.
, I read the first post and was like... wait... how does that make sense?

iv not been into car audio for very long, so i really didnt pay close close attention to what Best buy had in stock. but id guess never on the CV stroker. and to comment on those rcas, i emailed the guy before i bought em and he said they were as good if not better than most mainstream brands. i believed him and had to go and grab some stingers a week later (working great btw). its too bad they dont carry the "better" brands like RE, CV, the better maxxonics stuff, Fi, Lanzar, CDT, MA, and some american brands like Zapco and MMATS would never hurt either..... touche?

haha ya....even going the simple way of adding the diameters up 12+12=1 24in so to speak, that still more than 1 15..... unless im missing something to figure in here

Isn't it funny how that works? I'm in about $950 (headunit, 5-ch amp, tweeters, mids, and a pair of 15" subs) plus another $200 for sound deadening, wires, etc. and I'm extremely happy with the results. It's amazing what kind of deals you can get if you have patience, are willing to experiment with gear a little bit, and willing to make things fit where they normally wouldn't fit.

Oh yes, I would get these kids that would love my set up and I would trade subs and amps like frickin baseball cards!! But I would try it out in my car and see if it was worth the trade. In some cases I'd be like gimme $50 buck and I'll trade, they would do it, they would put wrong amps to it and blow it...Lots of people out there "think" they know about car audio. You dont know until you've had like 3 systems and blow something

I personally started with two twelves, I miss my trunk space. I'm going to a nice shallow mount 15, I expect to get back TONS of trunk space and still blow the 12s out of the water.

Trunk space is nice.
I meant a square 15" sub but its 225 so its close haha

sorry about my adding.

Anyways is anyone gonna back me up here saying that diamond audio will blow away any of those off brands like lanzar and crap?

I bet my setup of:

Alpine Iva-d300 Indash Multimedia Station
Rockford Fosgate t5002 Amp
Diamond Audio 12" D6 Subwoofers in a transmission line box
Boston acoustics highs

will blow away any off brand system in sound quality anyday of the week. And spl unless its a van with a wall of ****ty subs or somthing

The amp is a Precision Power DCX800.5, got it BNIB off eBay last year: 50x4 + 200x1. Because of the way my subs are installed, I was able to get away with using way less power than the 15s can take. RMS rating on the subs is 750w each, but they're only getting 200w apiece (wired for 2-ohms, amp is putting out ~400w total) and they still get very close to maximum excursion with the small amount of power I'm sending to them. And as a bonus, I still get to keep most of my trunk space.

My tweets and mids were all raw drivers purchased from PartsExpress. Sound deadening and Ensolite (noise blocking foam) were purchased from Rick at Raamaudio.

In case anyone wants to know where my $950 went:
Headunit: Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS ($290 on eBay)
Amp: PPI DCX800.5 ($250 on eBay)
Tweets: Dayton Reference RS28 large format aluminum dome tweeters $90/pair
Mids: Dayton Reference RS180 7" woofers $66/pair
Subs: Image Dynamics 'OEM' overstockers $250/pair

And here's how I installed my subs:
What I've been working on... (PICS)

They're in now, trunk still looks like crap because I haven't had the time to recarpet it, but it sounds great. I'll post more pics once everything's FINALLY finished, it looks too crappy to advertise right now, LOL.

i asked about the 5ch cuz i know they dont put out loads of power, and was curious how u could run 2 15s off of one ever.

very interesting tho, got any pics of it done

Diamond makes decent stuff. I've never run any of their product myself, but I've heard some of their component speakers and they were pretty nice.

LOLZ

You have subs and you have 'highs'. No mids? And if you have mids, they're mounted in those swiss-cheese stock door panels?

Also, you only have one 2-channel amp. Are you running everything else off of 22w from the headunit?

I bet your system sounds like every other person's who says "my system will blow anything away" but doesn't know nearly as much as they think they do. Overpowering bass, shrill highs, and terrible midbass/midrange.

Does that define your interpretation of 'sound quality'? If so then congratulations, you've got me beat.
