I'd Drive it.. Atleast off the apperance of it. Ride quailty well i'll wait till its in Show Room's. IF GM sticks with the $35,000 It will do Well. If the Dealers Go stupid with it like they did when the Cobalt SS first took the streets, they can stick it.

Its amazing how Car/Truck Price's have increased just from 5yr's ago let along the Mid 90's... Eventually i see this coming to a End.

I'm really liking this car more and more. I miss my GTO but i'd almost rather take this. Practicality and power=FTW.

And what does QFT mean? i'm a little behind in my forum lingo.

I've got better things I can spend my money on, like my new Pioneer AVIC D3 I just ordered. But yeah, i've been told a tune really wakes this SS up.

heh, I guess thats where we differ- to me, having an LS2 that can beat a 3.6 V6 is most important.

you went from a roll, and you didn't hold the go pedal down long enough. Keep it down past 95 and that GXP will start disappearing. The LS2 won't stop pulling through high speed, the 3.6 V6 will, drastically.

Not when it's a lease. Money wasted = FTL. Money invested = FTW. Although, I don't consider the AVIC D3 an investment, it is an investment towards the future since I know i'll always want an ipod connection, subwoofer controls, and navigation (plus color changing schemes to match any interior) for cars I may have in the future. Not to mention I got it brand new from Pioneer for $400 (employee hook-up). $400 towards tuning the truck, only to turn around and trade it back in, is a waste of money. Now, if my girlfriend ends up buying it at the end of the lease (that's all pending as well, depending on what happens in 2 years, not to mention the buy-out price), then i'll possibly tune it afterwards for her (us). Racing in the TBSS isn't always the same either. Can't exactly have fun without feeling it in the wallet always. $65 fillups once a week? No thanks.

Not to mention, i'm not so much bothered by being beat. Ego's can get costly. The G6 isn't even a competitor in my mind.

Oh yeah, I shut it down just at 100mph. Didn't want to really push it especially that section of highway. It's up-hill and sorta wobbly. I can almost never keep the truck tracking straight. Front wheels tend to follow every rut in the road and the rear wheels follow suit.

We were surprised and delighted when Pontiac announced that the highly anticipated G8 GT would start under $30,000. We assumed, however, that additional options to make the car more enjoyable would increase the price quickly and dramatically. According to a tip we received recently, that may not be the case. This document shows a breakdown of 2009 G8 pricing that reveals the most expensive combination of trim level, packages and individual options could add up to a G8 GT with an MSRP of just $32.895. That's barely $2,000 over the base price of the G8 GT model. It also includes a set of 18-inch all-season tires that cost $150. Delete that option and stick with the 19-inch wheels wrapped with performance rubber and the price drops to just $32,745.

While the document, which appears to be a scan that includes employee pricing as well, could be a fake, we don't suppose there are many folks out there who go to the trouble. It lists the exact same base prices for both the G8 Base and GT models that GM announced in early October, but also includes pricing for both the Premium and Sport packages that can be ordered together on either the Base of GT model. It also reveals pricing for the Power Sunroof to be $900.

One feature that seems to be missing entirely from the G8 is a sat nav system, which would add around $2,000 to the price if available. We couldn't find any mention of one on Pontiac's G8 microsite, though it does mention the inclusion of either a 5.0-inch multifunction display or 6.5-inch color LCD depending on the stereo system ordered. A sat nav system can be ordered on various versions of the Holden Commodore in Australia, upon which the G8 is based, so it's not like the car can't take one.

DETROIT – General Motors plans a new family of rear-wheel-drive vehicles for Pontiac. The G8 line will include a sedan followed by a wagon and sport truck.

All will be modeled after products sold by GM's Australian subsidiary, Holden, according to three sources familiar with the project. The vehicles will be assembled in Australia.

The G8 sedan goes on sale early next year. It replaces the Grand Prix and will be Pontiac's flagship sedan with a starting price around $25,000.

The G8 wagon will be a performance vehicle similar to the Audi A3 wagon, sources say. The G8 sport truck will be reminiscent of the Chevrolet El Camino, which was produced in North America from 1959 through 1987.

The vehicles will closely resemble the Holden VE Ute sport truck and Commodore wagon.

There was debate within GM about whether to give the sport truck to GMC. GMC won't get it.

Instead, GM's marketers wanted — and will get — a Pontiac sport truck so GM can market the three rwd vehicles as a high-performance family.

The sport truck will have the same drivetrain as the Chevrolet Camaro, and it will use a modified sedan architecture.

The 2008 Pontiac G8 sedan is the first U.S. vehicle developed on GM's global rwd sedan architecture. The Camaro will be the second. The G8 sedan will be assembled in Australia and will share much of its sheet metal with the Commodore.

There is one caveat: Sources say the wagon and sport truck may be repriced or canceled if the U.S. dollar continues to drop. The Australian dollar is currently worth 90 cents in U.S. currency, up from 79 cents in August.
Important parts bolded...

The wagon and sport truck, under the Pontiac name, would be an absolute business disaster. There is no way Pontiac's nameplate and finances can support these vehicles and have the public buy them in significant enough quantities to make them worth producing. It would further embarass the GM financial troubles.

I'd bet more people would buy a Pontiac truck for low 30's... I would. At lwast compared to the expensive SSR.

I can't wait to see these things in person. A good friend has a Charger SRT-8 with a few mods and it is a total beast to ride in. Love to have a 400+ HP G8 GXP so we could play a little.

Why its not a real truck if its based off a G8 frame...the SSR bombed horribly it targeted a niche market they sold like 20,000 of them in 3 years of production

I doubt the wagon would sell well, but it at least has possibilities. The truck would be a sales disaster.
