Here's a problem i see with the G8 being priced at 27k-29k.. Say you Purchase the G8 GT Price will be around 31-32k Depending on area and dealer.
The G6 GXP sedan is going for around 27-28k.

For 2-4k More you can have more HP,RWD and a bigger Car. Isn't Gm going to be "stealing" It's G6 Crowd?

Almost like Chrysler is doing, competing against themselfs.

I don't think so. The cars don't look the same, nor are they geared towards the same group. Plus, to figure someone our age with a V-6 or a V-8 on insurance. I have had an 02' WS-6 when it was new and I paid out the butt for a V-8 then I got a GAGT to go with it and the cost on the 02' GAGT was not even half and the original value was about $5000 apart. Now I have 2 TA's and still the GA. After they take off the LOA additional costs at the dealerships I plan to get one for a daily driver.

On a side note the GXP Torrent was one heck of a ride for a crossover. I think Pontiac is moving back into the right direction.

Man I still can't beleive what some people got charged for insurance on the Grand Am Gt. Mine was only like $380 every six months for full coverage. It was actually probably my cheapest car, then again I also had the best drivers record when I got it.

yeah I acctually paid more for my '89 cavalier wagon and '98 sunfire just because I had a couple wrecks and tickets. They came off in 2003, and my sunfire dropped to $130/month to drive. I got the grand am and it went up to $150, then I Turned 25, and it only dropped to $120/month. I wasn't happy so I switched to Geico, got my new rate of like $380 every six months...unfortunatly that only last for 3 months because then I had a wreck, and I was claimed at fault... Geico has a Accidental forgiveness policy but that only works for those who have been with them for 5 years.

Still $106/month for a 2004 cavalier, ain't too bad. And I can't complain, GEICO gave me $8000 for my GAGT in which I owed $6500 on, and man it wasn't worth $8000 at all. Had 89,000 miles on it, and all kinds of sort of little annoyances.

Anyway I think the G8 will probably be a monster with insurance. They'll see Rear Wheel Drive V8 and think "OMG its a sports car" and rape you. Insurance companies are stupid. I still can't believe the quote GEICO gave my wife to insure her 2000 Cavalier Convertible. ITs like my cavalier is a 2004 and I have wreck on my record and only has 27,000 miles on it, and I got $106/month, which is for full coverage. Jackies convertible Cavalier is $120 just for liability! Why? Because its a convertible!

Stupid stuff with insurance. I don't care if its a convertible its still a cavalier!

50's G-8 is pretty sweet. Not liking the steering wheel too much though. The silver pieces are throwing me off. I guess it's the way it's made, since I'm more used to the spoked look. Ehh on the tails. They look disproportional to the rest of the rear end. The stripe has to go too. The orange is hott though. As for the 6 speed, doesn't it have the hydromatic transmission where you can use it in either auto or transfer down to use it as a manual?

It's also the RWD vs. FWD crowd... most who "need" a FWD won't consider a RWD and vice versa.

I thought i saw the G8 comes in a choice of v6 FWD and v8 RWD. Not feelin' the small tail lights, its like the back is made around the trunk, like the trunk lid is supposed to be the biggest visual thing in the back and needs to be noticed. my $0.03

Where did you hear this? I expect the GT price to be closer to $35k.

Nice car, even with the ghetto rims.

Its one of the nicer looking Pontiacs out there.....
and the stock rims are far better looking than the flower power rims on the GTO!!!
