Most people who buy something liek that aren't buying it to tow/haul anything substantial. You can still throw your mountain bike, 4wheeler, or motorcycle in the back. No one with a 400hp el camino is going to be hauling rocks and dirt, or a 10,000lb trailer.

I'm willing to bet $100 cash you are wrong. The SSR was a joke, and aside from the late 70's, wagons NEVER sell in impressive numbers (hence why the SUV evolved and became popular because it provided more to offer).

The point being its the same chassis on the same production car , and its being engineered for left hand drive already , so why not throw a few wagons and utes into the mix ?

if it fails its cost them nothing in development , they already had to make it for the aussie market , all they need is to but the pontiac facia on there , keep them all variants of the G8 , that way people wont scream (and they would) badge engineering - that chevy or buick etc got the same car ... they are all G8 variants !
and all PONTIACS !

whatever you say I didn't know that when you build more car variations on one same platform they were free to make

So which one of these three was the one with cost, and the rest free? Grand Am, Alero, Malibu

Traded May 4th. I bought this one though. I was sick of the M6, single exhaust, 17" wheels, and blue. Two blue cars almost identical in hue was making me nauseated, plus the wife loves red cars and autos so it was an easy sell.

I'm still there, AMRAAM4 got banned last Feb. I'm under Schleprock now, but still, hardly ever there because of the pretentious idiots. Especially the ones trying to sell their 2006's for $27-28k

they arent free, but your are not spending millions $$$ developing those variants for a market you do not know they will succeed in ...

let me make it simple for you ...

they take a wagon , and throw it down the same "left hand drive production line the G8 goes on" .... the g8 front fascia fits straight on , what part dont you understand ?

say they make a couple of 100 of them and none sell, ohhh well , back to making the sedans ...
nothing lost

Werd, they're probably going to make 3000-4000 of them if they do it at all, just because they can.

I can definilty see the wagon as a possibility as it would be a good competitor to magnum. But who wants an el camino these days? What good is a truck if you can't use it as a truck?

please, just STFU and go back to playing with your suspensions (that you promote selling here without paying for)

More than 80% of the GMs line is well past the bulk R&D cost covering portion of their sales life-cycle, and GMs financials are getting worse and worse. What's their excuse? (the excuse is, GM is in horrible debt, and like a credit card abuser, they are going deeper into debt with R&D costs to try ad hit the gold mine to pull them out of old debt!)

let me make it real focking simple for you Joe Carguy: Unless you severly mark-up ANY product you make in a short supply, you will not have a positive, or status quo, cost-benefit of producing that item whether their is R&D involved or not.

I don't really know what you are so butt hurt about ?

every one is saying the same thing -

look here is but one of many sources saying the same thing-

http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...ommodore_wagon

Though the market for an American-branded sport wagon is relatively untested (beyond the Dodge Magnum), GM sources confirm a G8 wagon is a low-cost gamble, because all the baseline engineering for left-hand drive and crash testing have already been completed. The wagon would also share the same front clip, trim, wheels, and badging as the G8 sedan.

& the Dodge Magnum is scheduled to stop production in the 1st quarter of 2008...

Brampton, ON plant productions are beng slashed/cut.
They plan to cut their 3rd shift staff.
Chrysler is hurting with their slow sales in North America, & trying to cut down their debt.

Refer to: Chrysler cuts 1,100 Brampton jobs

PS HRT427: Ignore Bob

To me, the Magnum failed because it had bland styling, was underpowered, and was built by Chrysler...ie they probably overbuilt the hell out of them and had to end up giving them away.
I think if they keep the production numbers low enough, it'll sell. Think about it, a low cost 400hp wagon, that, with a tune and some basic mods (maybe even stock), can blow away an SRT Magnum and many other cars on the road? Sounds pretty cool to me.

What killed the Magnum? The Charger I think. Same overall car, but with a cooler looking body than the family hauling wagon. Honestly I thought the Magnum was cool as hell when it came out. Honestly for a station wagon, it still looks pretty cool

the G8 wagon looks like a german import. looks hella tight. one thing iv come to notice though is that pontiac and other GM lines have some really nice and rich colors for their cars. like in the link of the wagon, thats a very rich-looking silver that really helps the car.
honda's and toyota's colors are blah and boring. thats one more reason i like GM cars

That's what Dodge said about the Magnum, and look at that POS. I think I've seen 7 Magnum's on the road in 3 years.

FAIL!
