Midwest spring 08' meet

I know its a little early to get anything set in stone for a spring meet, but the sooner the better. The community seems like its waning as a whole, and a meet would definitely help that.
There are a lot of midwest guys with some serious engine and turbo builds going on right now that a lot of people would like to see in person. As these cars get older and cheaper, more enthusiasts have access to them and the aftermarket is starting to grow for our motors. Its just a little inspiration for other members to push the limit. Also, our vendors can get a chance to see what some of us have come up with, and give them ideas for future endeavors of theirs.

Lets start out with general ideas like location, events, and get a gauge of when would be the most convenient time for the majority of us.

The farthest I'd drive would probably be a bit past Toledo. There's a few people over here and in the Toledo area so that might be a good idea.

This is a midwest meet, not a northeast. Im talking about IL, IN, MI, OH. Thats it. If anyone else wants to come, they can drive super far then. Those four states are where most of our members live, and it would ideally be centrally located between them.

I've gone to most of the meets here in the midwest, so I'd be down for another...especially if it was northern IN.

I say we find somewhere in the middle of no where, but with in like 20 min drive to a nice size town and/or strip. That way you can"have fun" with the cars

As far as tracks go, it sucks around here. But if TireRack throws a car show or Autocross comp we may be able to work something in around that.

Another thought would be to talk with Ben, 60v6 does a summer meet in Wisconsin iirc..we may be able to get something going with their community if they are down for two meets..one early in the season and one later in the season (show some progression on the cars that way..)

If we do it locally for me then I'd help plan. But as I learned with the chicago meet I worked on, it doesn't work to plan a meet in a city that isn't your own. It's impossible to find sh!t to do when you don't know the lay of the land.

I know most of the roads south-east of south bend..there are some good country roads that are flat, few rocks, no potholes, no traffic, no houses, no stop signs..I've had fun out there. (And if we're lucky we'll see a case of coors light bottles next to the few stop signs that are down there.. )

Judging from what we saw during our last Midwest meet, the primary draw will be the track day. So, I think its safe to say we should definitely include one.

I'll talk to metallman and see what we can pull up..worse case scenario we have a longer drive to the track than we did at that last meet.
