I've never looked at a GTO up close so I don't know if those or GXP calipers will work. They are PBR so there's a good chance they will.

Go back to the first post of the thread. You will see the pics of the Vette calipers with ribs.

Judging by that picture, I would say the GTO calipers will not work. They are on a different mount that the F-Body/Vette. Keep in mind, the GTO is built off an Australian car. No ties to the US at all, other than Holden is a GM offshoot.

May be able to swap the bracket, but is the spacing the same?

BUT.. All of the calipers are made by PBR regardless, even the stock ones. Which is an austrailian company if I remember right.

And the XLR and C6 calipers are identical, not the C5. Sorry about that one. I don't know if the C6/XLR calipers will fit any better as the smallest wheel on those are 18" where the C5 had 17".

Does any one know if there is way to upgrade the rear's on the GAs disk setup? I saw a bunch of people ask in this thread but did not a response or positive No. I am going to try to make something work but I wanted to know if any one else got it to work on the back. I am definitely going with the Gray up front.

I did the Red Caliper and the Black Bracket and Rotor hub. It turned out good and lasted about 2 years with moderate cleaning to keep them nice and Red. There is nothing wrong with them I am just sick of looking at the Red.

Oh and I used my original Calipers. I would rather paid for new ones (Vette). Six hours of a wire wheel, wire brush, and good old fashion muscle to transfer all four Calipers to a clean base.

Just a little bit of oxidation, huh?

LukeL: so you arent upgrading the fronts but you want to upgrade the rears? i say start with the front, and then just match the rotors and pads in back. you wont see much of a difference by upgrading the rears, which is why nobody spent any time trying to figure it out. you can feel free to be the first (I encourage it) but i say its more worth while to d the fronts first...its not just an appearance upgrade.

Thanks for the info. I would have made more sense if I would have said: I painted my front and rear brakes 2 years ago and the Corvette Mod is what I want to do next. In addition I would also like to upgrade the Rear's. However, I really do not want to urgrade the front and leave the rear stock. I personally am very meticulous and that would bug the Hell out of me every time I washed my wheels

But I think this is one of the coolest things I have seen done to a GA so I want to do it. I called my normal connections and NO one has ever heard of this actually working. They thought I was just talking out my a$$. But I had them check the bracket and sure as Sh!t (not saying I doubted any one I just liked rubbing it in his face)...the fronts will work and I got $20 bucks in my pocket for proving it, I should really give the $20 to this thread.

Supposedly, again supposedly, this SAME guy think that Brembo has a FULL upgrade kit for the GA. I have yet to confirm or deny this. He also said Baer but If I recall that too does not upgrade the rear. I would rather make something work myself, in addition to the Vette upgrade, if no one has seen an upgrade for the rear.

Ok, I'm done. Thanks.

Question

I'm gonna need new rotors in the near future and am considering this mod. I have the non-chrome, painted version of that wheel. If I use CAMARO calipers then they will definitely clear(with little room but enough)? I Apologize if this seems repetitive but I want to be 100% sure they'll fit before i go dumping a few hundred on parts. Also, what exactly is a core charge? Is that like a deposit and I get it back when i return the old parts? Thanks.

yes the camaro calipers will fit. camaros come with 16" rims, and without the corvette ribs yo have the room.

a core charge is where they add to the price and then refund it when you turn in your removed parts.

In response to the GTO discussion...i know someone who is trying that swap, but with a twist. he is going to attempt to use the fbody extension bracket to allow for 13" rotors rather than the 12" that this conversion uses. ill either have him post results or I will.

we sell the 12" rear disc brake conversion/upgrade kit from SSB.. its a custom kit that they build in-house so the parts wont exactly be found on any vehicle stock.. using the rear 12" kit does require the use of at least 12" brakes in front if not 13".. http://www.mpracing.org/store/index....&productId=313

thank you though for letting people know that there is actually a rear upgrade for these vehicles

also MP Racing will be offering the f-body front brake conversion kits again in the very near future

Here's the link for the front extension bracket. They run $295.

Oh, and on those SSBC rear kits, they use the craptacular caliper with the parking brake in it. I'd rather have the stock rears than that.

would you bother explaining WHY they are so horrible?

have you ever even used the setup before?

Well, I can't really comment specifically on the SSBC kit, but I've had and worked with vehicles with that style parking brake and it was always causing trouble and never really worked that good. (especially like on the older W-Bodies)

You don't have an advance auto parts store there? Just say you need anti-rattle clips for corvette calibers. Thats all i said.
