04-08 Grand Prix...Thoughts?

I have been looking at cars lately and the 04-08 Grand Prix's seem to be going pretty cheap. Their resale value is terrible so I can get into a slightly used car for half of the original MSRP. Anyone here got one? Common problems? I am looking at a GT, no CompG or GTP cars. Cavalier and Camaro just arnt cutting it up here with all the lake effect snow. What do you think?

Grand Prix GT: ancient platform + ancient powertrain = car best served for rental duty. There is a reason why the cars have no resale value, skip it.

I had a late 80s model but I've driven my grandmothers around in the snow she has a 01 I think, they're great cars in the snow with the right tires honestly I don't see how a GP would be any better

Didnt he have one of those crazy orange colored ones?

I have to have a GM vehicle.

W body is cheap and seems like it would be a decent daily driver.

Actually, late model GP's have grown on me as well. I think it would be a good upgrade from my GA GT. Similar straight line performance, better engine, roomier. I thought those things were ugly when they came out, but I like how they look now.

Just to clarify, Pontiac dropped the GTP trim sometime and some newer GT's come with the 3800 SC engine.

I saw a late model GTP 'Special Edition' today. It had the GXP 18's but just silver instead of chrome. Thing was sexy as hell.

In canada for the 2008 Grand Prix only has 2 trims GP Sedan or GXP sedan only has the 3800 non- SC, 2007 was the last year for the SC motors. So 2008 say good bye to the Grand Prix because the G8 is taking over.

I have a 2007 GP and love it. It has lots of room and rides & drives great. The engine is strong too!

You're all fockign insane and need to pull your head out of GMs ass. All you people loving the GP, all you are doing is moving up to the Grand Am's fatter brother.

If a cavalier isn't good in the snow, a GP isn't going to be any better.

The 04-08 GP's are horrible. I drive them every day at work, as I have probably 20 of them in my rental fleet. They rattle, they shake, they dont drive well in snow at all- they turn into a giant ice skate that slides into whatever it wants to. I would definately not buy one- they are not very good cars. I dread the nights that I have to take one home because I hate driving them that much. There is a reason that they are worth absolutely nothing.

There are so many other brands of cars that will be better than the Grand Prix and a lot better value for your money.

I drove a 07 as a rental for about two weeks..... it was an underpowered, uncomfortable boat. Maybe the fully loaded ones are better, but the base trims aren't even worth their rock bottom price.
