How is it not high performance? In todays standars of toy toyotas and 2fast2furious crap box's this thing stands out.

SS Never had a 'V8 only' meaning. Its just V8's are all they had to go fast. Z28, Z06, ZR1, COPO...those are names that are V8 only. Actually drive something with the motor in the HHR SS and you would think otherwise.

I thought I read that chevy was going to be much more selective about what it put the SS badge on. Looks pretty cool though.

Guess i'm one of the Few. I would own One and at this point plan on seriously looking at one come Summer.

For the looks, I guess you have to like Retro looking Car's/Trucks to think to it looks Cool.

I'm sure there will be a Panel Version of the SS probably 09 Model.

I still can't figure out why some say this is doesn't deserve the SS Badge? Its a 260 HP 4 Banger Turbo in a 2900lbs Car?

What Makes it a car a SS in some of your Minds?

Thats what I want to know. If its not 500 hp and RWD people think it doesnt deserve the badge.

Chevy has been throwing around the SS badge on just about anything lately...put some boost and some ground affects and call it the SS version...SS Malibu, SS Impala, HHR-SS, Cobalt SS/SC, whats next an Aveo SS.....actually that wouldn't surprise me since ive seen concepts for an Aveo Xtreme (like Blazer and S10 Xtreme)..

kinda like Mopar just throws a Hemi in everything....kinda just ruins the name by letting every car have that badge or motor (in the hemi case)

Chevy has been more selective with the SS badge. They realized they were F'n up. Bob Lutz even said he thought the 245hp Malibu "SS" midsize family sedan was going too far with it. The Malibu SS nameplate has been dropped. Theres still a high "er" performance model but its like an LT or something now. Also the regular Cobalt "SS" has been replaced with the Colbalt LS Sport or something like that. I have no problem with an SS badge on a Non-V8 vehicle as long as it still gets awesome performance, and 260hp in a light vehicle IMO warrents an SS badge.

I really like the HHR and I think it looks even better in the SS model. Is it a PT Cruiser rip off? Well considering its retro design was desgined by the same person who designed the PT Cruiser, of course it is, but my god it looks a 100 times better than the PT cruiser. Me personally would be just happy with the 2.4 HHR. while i love the SS, these days you gotta think about fuel economy and not sure i want something as a daily driver with 26mpg! The 3.4 grand am I used to have sucked enough on fuel economy!

Agreed. I wouldn't mine having the HHR SS For me MPG isnt a big problem. I work about 10 mile's from home, obviously that might change next year when i get married. I'm actually looking at the SS and the Malibu obviously there 2 totally different car's The price differance (the way i would want it) is only 2800 between the 2. I would love to have the "pocket rocket" but at the same point i need something more long the line's for a "family car". Only time will tell what i end up with.
