Wow, that looks nice. I love the exterior lighting, but I question its legality. Overall, a pretty legit car- I think Buick could do for a 2 door sports car, since a lot of older people are in that brand already, and have money to buy a higher end car (those that don't graduate into a Caddy, that is).

I think Buick is trying to slowly position themselves as a brand not only intended for the older crowd; however, they still want to maintain that crowd and offer them something to compete with their fellow demographic in the M's, AMG's, V's, etc offered by other manufacturers. I can see an older male having this as a DD, and a Corvette as his sports car; at the same time, I can see this (depending on the pricing point) as the entry level car for the young executive, who maybe isn't ready for/wants something different than a Cadillac.

This would only see the light of day in China- their design studio did this for their market. Buick is a hot brand in china right now for some reason.

Nice, but too nice for a buick. Well bigbeng is right, it will only be available in china or japan if it makes it with those features.

Buick gave journalists an early look at the Riviera concept car before its North American debut at the North American International Auto Show later this week. The concept car carries strong hints of a dramatic new look for future Buick products, a plan that was confirmed by Buick executives including Vice President of Global Design Ed Welburn. The return of the Riviera name "signals a new global design direction" for Buick, according to Buick-Pontiac Product Director Dave Smidebush.

Looking at a glance like a hardtop rendition of the Velite showcar of 2004. the Riviera is all about automotive drama. Gullwing doors, blue accent lights under the chrome and a spa-like interior suggest that Buick is planning to inject a dose of serious theatrics into its traditionalist styling language. Designed in Shanghai, the Riviera blends elements of classic Buicks with smooth modern curves. There are subtle Chinese influences as well, like the white jade-inspired texture and color of the headlamp units.

In keeping with Buick's luxury heritage, the Riviera is a full-size 2+2 that's designed for comfort and relaxation rather than performance. The interior is swathed in leather, ultrasuede and brushed metal, with many surfaces backed by cool blue illuminated panels. Passenger space and comfort have been considered to give the Riviera a "day spa" feeling on the inside.

There are no plans to produce the Riviera, but Buick executives confirmed that some of the Riviera's show-car details will turn up on future Buick products aimed at both the U.S. and China.

Are you crazy? Caddy's are more angular and sharp edged. This is too rounded for a cadilac.

I was wondering if anyone saw the chinese kanji on the trunk. I have to agree.

Too bad because it's an awesome looking car. I love the interior, the exterior... it's really sharp. Of course all the cool stuff like the headlights, glow lighting, gull wing doors, narrow side mirrors, etc... none of it would ever make it into production and those are some of the coolest features. Wouldn't be the same car without them. This car is far too much of a concept car to ever be considered for production.
