$1000 for snow tires? You insane I paid $400 for my 15" steelies with new tires, unless you have big brakes and it won't clear it but my stock summer tires are 17s and my winter tires are 15s it doesnt affect anything or throw off the speedo/odometer
Winter tires are for the weak? Try driving z rated summer performance tires in the snow then get back to me....if your car is still in one peice that is

Okay, I went ahead and purchased some Bridgestone Blizzak REVO 1's from Tire Rack for $79 ea. Grand total of like $356 after shipping. Now the only problem is finding steelies. I don't think anyone will have them in stock around here and I think the dealer would charge me an arm and a leg. Anyone have any recommendations on where I might go to get a set of steelies that have the same bolt pattern as my car?

So I've called around to at least a dozen of tire shops, but no one can get me the rims... So, I pretty much have to wait until next year to get a set... Focking ridiculous! The dealership wants $142 (taking $40 off retail) each for steelies.

If you are desparate, you can try:
http://www.tiretrends.com They are located in Vancouver area, BC, Canada So you will have to pay a bit for shipping ($26 Cdn per wheel) & any US Customs duties. Mazda 16" Take-off steel wheels = $59.95 Cdn/each Mazda 16" new steel wheels = $74.95 Cdn/each PS: Bridgestone Blizzak REVO 1 studless ice winter tires, eh ?

Meh, screw it. Jumps up to nearly $400 to ship the the US. Think you could find another site a little more to the South, Mike? What's the difference between the two wheels?

Being ice traction 1st priority on that model of tire. But I guess you were buying on price point. Umm...no ![]() If I were to order them. Take off steel wheels: 4x $59.95 Cdn Shipping: 4x $13 Cdn GST 5% tax: $14.59 Cdn Total: $306.39 Cdn You order them: Take off steel wheels: 4x $59.95 Cdn Shipping: 4x $26 Cdn NO TAX Total: $343.80 Cdn I would not be able to ship 4-steels wheels to you for $37.41 Cdn ![]() Any shipping to through the US border will also get hit with the US Customs fees. Sorry, I don't know of any US mail order websites that I could recommend. The difference between the 2-steel wheels is: Take-offs came off of a Mazda car, when someone bought a wheel package & traded those in. The other one is new.

Yeah, I figured out the offset after I posted, unfortunately the site went down. The offset on the stock tires is 52.5mm. Could I get away with the 48mm offset?
Sorry, I'm really ignorant when it comes to tires.

Well Tire Rack called today and wanted to verify the tire size since they noticed I had 17's stock. Anyway, they had two steel wheels left in stock so I went ahead and ordered those. I figure A) they're only $41 and B) they will mount and balance two tires for free. So, now I only need two steelies. I asked them what the offset was and they said 55. So, now I'm on a search for two w/55mm offset. If worse comes to worse, I'll just stick the two on the fronts for now. I can manage a swinging tailend, but the fronts need traction bad!.

I got 16" steelies. 15's won't fit. Originally I wanted 17" because I wanted to keep everything normal (speedo, tach, etc.) but as I said I'm ignorant when it comes to wheels so I didn't know that the tire size would make up the difference.
Still, I'm trying to find two more wheels... I can't believe how much of a pain in the ass this has become.

Not having the TPS will not affect your ABS. It is more advisable to have four winter tires so you have the same amount of grip on all fours, this will affect the ABS more than anything else.
You could consider checking out local salvage yards for steelies, sometimes even the salvage yards can get you new ones as well in the size you need.
