Illegally Imported Beauties...SO SAD!

The individual that provided the pictures works there. Apparently, they have all been found in one container that arrived from Asia and all belong to a single guy. They are illegal in NA, hence why they are being held. There are 2 possible outcomes;
1. owner pays for all the fees and transport fees back to Asia
2. the cars get crushed!

Guy tried to sneak in some beatuies but got BUSTED instead!

Now, considering one of these puppies is at least 100k, I sure hope he chooses option 1. Due to the fact that court procedures and everything else takes time, the future of these machines is unknown.

that's cruel.

Seriously, I see no problem with importing Skylines into North America. They are wonderful cars to ride in and drive.

shameless plug.

My friend has an R32 GTS Skyline for sale here. It has been titled in mississippi when imported, and now is registered, insured, and titled in Nevada.

Were these cars stolen? It would explain the illegal status other than emissions and safety reasons.

Skylines are nice cars, this was at our local county fair car show last year.

If they were imported directly then they most likely do not conform with federal vehicle regulation laws. Then again, they very well may be stolen.

100,000 containers come into the US through California daily... <3% of those containers are actually inspected. ****ty luck for this guy.

When looking at all the random parts missing on the cars, especially the somewhat stripped interiors and missing headlights, I was thinking the same thing- stolen!

no the cars werent stolen. The rules state that you cannot import a car that is less than 15 years old. I know its a stupid rule but thats how it works. The only way around it is if you ship the car and the engine seperate. That way you can claim the car as a "kit car" and insure it that way. otherwise, any car that is newer than 1992 cannot be imported...they are even trying to change the 15 year old rule to 20 now!

If I were going through the trouble and expense of breaking the law as it was, I would at least separate the car and engine...or pay off whoever is checking the cargo boxes. Even putting each box (assuming one box fits 2 cars?) in a different name would have been a good idea so that if one gets caught, they all won't go down.

People need to step up their law breaking game.

Believe it or not it is legal to drive an Skyline in the US. There was an actual importer of the cars that got busted for also trying to steal said cars and attempted kidnapping. I think the company was Motorex.

Yeah....the guy from MotoRex got in deep trouble and I heard that some people got screwed out of their cash. That R sure is pretty though.
