yes, quite a few. Those that were in prior to the ban are grandfathered in. Most are R33s though because of they were the easiest to import, but also because they are nearly the same car functionally as the R34 but are much cheaper to acquire.

registration is simple, You removed any Japanese numbers on the car, find a 240 from the junkyard and remove the VIN plate from engine bay and dash. Then rivit on to the skyline/S15. Thats what my friend did to register his S15, R33, and R34 skyline. They're all 89, 91 nissan 240's. I borrowed his car one time, he said if I got pulled over, the car is a conversion from a 240. LOL But yes, you can not fully insure them, if they get in a wreck.. no one has a windshield laying around for S15 (they are different from a 240 window curvature)

heres some pics of my friends skylines/S15

I had it borrowed for a week to put in a stereo install. Driving on the right side is fun! Lots of looks. I rather have an S15 than R34 skyline for driving. For show.. definately the skyline though.

That process alone that you just mentioned is so absolutely rediculously illegal and a huge federal offense it isn't even funny. All it takes is one cop, just one that has a clue and run that vin.

For the record I wouldn't be going around online and bragging about the process that your friend did, and then posting photos of the cars that the process was done on.

ya we had this discussion a while back over on alermod. LOL I'm not bragging anything, I just this is how he did it. He doesn't own all of them. that is his shop. He customizes in SR20 swaps and RB25/Rb26 swaps. The orange car isn't a RHD car. Its a normal 89 240 w/ custom body work conversions to S15 tailights. The white S15 is his. The 2 R34 isn't my friends. He just works on them. There his customers car.

Ok so how about cars that really does the RHD conversion? Like cutting out the brake booster hole on the right side. and do front s15 headlights, and s15 tailights. Would this not be the same? There are people who do the conversion to look like the real thing.

You are bragging. You also posted pictures of questionable cars that your friend has access to knows about etc and a banner of a shop where these cars could be found at. As well as how you described a process of how the actual JDM cars depicted were fraudulently registered for street use a different car.

Cars that perform a RHD conversion. Well it isn't the same, they started off with a US spec car. Then they started slapping on JDM parts onto a US spec car. The headlamps and taillamps are technically illegal for US roads as well considering they dont' have any stamping on them that is required by US DOT. Do most police check out headlamps for those stampings? No. Even the legalized motorex cars tend to be missing a considerable amount of lil things here and there that would make them truly 100% compliant. That's just going on what I have heard and from looking at a few motorex cars that end up being sold on ebay from time to time.

SR20DET and RB motors are technically illegal since they weren't tested by the EPA, but with a lil work you can get the cars people generally drop them into you can make them pass fairly cleanly. The only motors that are technically LEGAL are the R33 Skylines GTS and GTR motors as long as they have been converted properly. As to what process that is, I guess only a handful know the true info on that.

It's stock besides the exhaust and is used as a daily driver, not as a bling bling machine.

When you daily drive any car they tend to look like that, and considering this one is very well taken care of besides the obvious wear and tear. It doesn't have any dash cracking, the paint is in great condition considering the age of the car.

Your little assumption is

It's worth every penny he's asking.

So if worn out carpet, steering wheel, and shifter make a car look beat up to me, that means I'm ? Whatever dude, get a life. My '97 GP is a daily driver, second owner, 11 year old car with 150k miles on it, and the interior looks better than that. Maybe I just take better care of my cars than some a$$hole who can afford a skyline but can't replace worn parts or doesn't know how to use a bottle of armor-all? Yeah, ok, I'm gay... whatever

1997 vs. 1990 is a big difference. Considering the fact you can't just look up on craigslist or autotrader and go hey well that skyline isn't as clean as this skyline.

You tend to have less choices on the condition of minor things such as the steering wheel and shift boot.

Granted I don't have to defend the car, but for the record the carpet isn't worn out. Those aren't the for sale photos those are just pictures of his car from myspace.

Also your preconcieved notion about a friend of mine being an ******* because he has a skyline is absolutely absurd and uncalled for.

Do yourself a favor and go **** yourself.
