With trucks like the Tahoe Hybrid which gets close to 50mpg on the highway, I think they will still be ok. As long as they make a hybrid something in the same class as the G8, the numbers will be high enough to average to 30mpg.

Not only that, but GM is usually very good about their top end models getting good gas mileage.

There aren't really that many trim levels available from what I understand- GM actually built a ton of G8's in various trim levels and color options and shipped them over here- without orders even existing for them. So pretty much a bunch of G8's are sitting on a boat right now with no owners, but are en route for the US only because there are few enough options that chances are the car you want will be on that boat.

On an unrelated topic, the G8's take something like 3-6weeks to get to the US, because the carrier has to go around the tip of South America, and unload somewhere on the East Coast- I forget where.

That is actually incorrect. GTO is based off of the Holden Monaro while the G8 is based off of the Commodore. Two entirely different vehicles. Same manufacturer.

The Charger is like a 6'04" 250 lbs, 14 year old. It looks akward, and is clumsy when trying to catch the faster kids. <-- baby hewy comes to mind.

Where are you getting your information. I hope that was a typo because everything I have seen about the Tahoe hybrid is that it gets just over 20mpg on the highway.

Hell, a 50mpg full size SUV would sell like hotcakes!

Tahoe + Hybrid = cool

HOWEVER

Tahoe + Hybrid = 20mpg = POINTLESS!!!

20 focking miles per gallon out of hybridization????? x infinity

First thing that would get done before I pulled out of the dealer with it, rip that hideous, gloating, "please don't yell at me know Mr. Tree Hugger" decal off the bottom. It looks like fockign sh1t.

According to the latest car & driver a standard tahoe 4x4 is rated at 14/19 and the hybrid 4x4 is rated at 20/20.

But they also mention that they trimmed 350 pounds off the tahoe hybrid to make up for the extra 350 pounds of electric motors and what not. They then pondered what a 350 pound weight reduction and added aero mods could do for a standard tahoe's performance and mileage.

I just picture a bunch of engineers standing around scratching their heads after that one...

Only 20 MPG for those? Definitely thought they'd be a bit better.

really...if a hybrid isn't hitting 40mpg then it isn't doing its job. The Camry Hybrid has set the bar. And I have to say, if the car had a bit more of a physical appeal to it I would look into it as the next car considering I drive 80miles round trip each day for work.

At least the tahoe is a step in the right direction, no matter how small. I think we are still a long way off from having a 40mpg vehicle that seats 8 and can tow 6000 pounds like the tahoe. Is it a super gas sipper hybrid...no. But it is a better option for people who NEED a vehicle like that.

Yes the domestics are late to the game with hybrids, but what else is new. It's been a long time since any of the big three were seen as the innovators of the automotive world.

BTW Bob...that's one hell of a commute. How often do you have to fill up???

1.25 times a week a full tank usually leave me about 1.5 trips short. each trip is 40 miles one way. Aside from 7-8 minutes of it, it's all I-95 so it takes about 40 minutes.

The 7 probably gets the best gas mileage out of all of your vehicles, .

I bet I can pull as good as the TBSS on the highway. I get about 15.5 with that and 21 with the GTO. The 7 has a 19g tank I think too

ugh cafe standards arent really going to affect cars like this as long as GM has few hybrids that get 50-60+ mpg they'll be fine

Dammit, I was reading about something else, and confused it with the Tahoe

The point of the hybrid Tahoe was only for people who drive in the city a lot, and do stop and go driving.
