Honestly, I think a lot of it is just the psychological aspect. People feel a lot better about themselves, and others around them feel good when they see that giant ass "HYBRID" sticker on the side. Personally, I think you would have to be a complete douche to buy an Escalade and keep that hideous Hybrid sticker and fender porthole badge on it.

They'll pay the extra buck for the "hybrid" badge..without realizing that by the time they sell it again, it probably won't have paid itself off in saved gas money..

According to the C&D article:

Quote:
The Tahoe 4wd hybrid comes only in a well-optioned version for $53,295. That's about five grand more than a comparably equipped regular Tahoe. If you drive mostly on the highway, you'll never make up the extra cost in fuel savings. But if you drive 15,000 miles per year, mostly in the city, you'll save more than 300 gallons of gasoline per year. At $3 per gallon, you'll make up the extra hybrid cost in about five years. And that's a quicker payback than you'll see in a Prius or a Civic hybrid.

21mpg hwy in an LS1 gto? you forget you have a 6th gear?

seriously though, whats the problem here? at a steady 75mph, i usually see ~25, and at 65, on decently level 10 mile or so section of 81 in PA, I saw 27.4mpg.

Granted, I have LTs, but I can't see that giving me that much of a gain over your car, especially with the higher EPA estimated LS1....

^I think he has an auto. But still, my dad's '05 6 speed sees 25mpg easily when crusing at 65-70mph.

I really love the way the Charger looks. However with that being said, I really like the G8 better. Though I gotta admit the interior in the G8 is disapointing, the car itself looks like one of the nicest things GM's brought out in a long time. And one thing GM people can through in the Charger fan's face, the G8 has a manual! Well not yet but it is planned for the future.

Chrysler only puts manuals on neons/calibers

Chargers is overweight and looks like a brick shi+house on wheels. They should have made the Charger after it's heritage. Should have put more into it than making it RWD and have somewhat similar rooflines to the 68-70 type Charger. Anyway - there is still hope for the car in the future riiiiight?!!!!

Like usual, you're clueless. I have an '06 A4

and...there's no fockign way in hell you are consistently pulling anywhere between 25-27mpg on the highway. A Vette has better fuel mileage than the GTO and that can only get around 26mpg.

I really like the G8 and if we can ever get the Monte to be gone it would be one of the contenders for a replacement. But I do love the looks of our Charger more I must say, but it could just be the look of ours the way Adam has it blacked out and all. Adam BTW thinks the G8 is ugly and doesn't like it nearly as much as the Charger. I should read that thread and see if the hubby posted there! In all reality he would trade our Charger for a new Challenger in a heartbeat!

like usual, right, as I post here often...

you had the damn 04 for some time, I haven't been here for a while, I slipped up, realized my mistake, and we moved on. Why did you feel the need to start ****? I apologize for not being completely up to date on your vehicle inventory. Please, PM me when you get a new car so I don't make such a horrific error again.

At 65 via cruise on my commute to work, I pull 26mpg. Every time. Believe me or not, I don't care. What would I have to gain by lying?
