i think most people that are looking for a new car with these dimensions will go test drive one and form their own opinion.

whether they get one of the first 35k that can be built for 08 is another story,

never ceases to amaze me how deep you can fit GMs c0ck in your mouth.

GM is so awesome they are trying to get rid of all of there employees...literally...so they can bring in cheap labor (probably mexicans, no joking).

My father, a worker of over 30+ years (non-union salary) was informed 3 weeks ago they want to buy him out or else. 2 days ago he was told April 1 is your last day and when you get your payment.

THANKS FOR 30+ YEARS AMRAAM'S DAD...NOW GTFO!! awesome business organization Maybe if they didn't suck the UAWs c0ck for many years, and didn't build so many utter piece of sh1t vehicels for so long, they wouldn't be $38 billion in the hole. How GM is able to keep Wagoner and Lutz while keeping a straight face is beyond me. Did Wagoner and Lutz take a salary cut to help all this reworking of the employee salaries?????????????????????????????? Fock no I bet ya.

I don't agree with everything you said Bob, but I will say that just from hearing and seeing the crap my dad (also an employee of 25+ years) has had to put up with in the past 6 months (like working 60hr weeks since they have "consolidated" a whole bunch of other people's jobs to his), I do concede that they are indeed sucking a whole lotta teh cack lately...but they've also helped to put me through school and allowed my family to live a certain lifestyle, so I can't complain. At the same time, I'm a lot happier he works for GM than, say, Chrysler or Ford, where the sense of impending doom has been lingering for years now.

what part do you disagree with??

And all 3 American companies are run by idiots. If they weren't....then they all wouldn't be in the same sh1tbag situation. If you are bleeding profusely, does it matter whether you are cut in teh neck, arm or leg (a.k.a GM, Ford, or Chrysler)?

Meh, I like what Lutz has done to most of the brand line (ie- saturn and keeping high perf. cars in almost every brand) and I don't think the post 2005 vehicles have been POS.

post 2005 is not the problem here...it's the late 1980's and ENTIRE 1990's that were the problem and put them where they are!!

And Lutz is 100% to blame for the GTO. He had the hot balls to make it happen and get it here...but in turn, it was him who ultimately made it fail. P1ss poor timing on hitting the market (January!!), horrendous marketing (it had ONE commercial ... that hardly ever ran)... dealer gouging, releasing a much more enticingly upgraded model less than a year later...etc, etc.

It's one of the best GM cars made in years, and no one knows about it. The lucky people are going to be those who are buying them right now for $16-23k depending on model year, with failry low mileage. IMO, every damn person on this board looking for an upgrade over their GA should be scavenging the used car world for a GTO (but don't be a prck thinking you are going to pay less than $16k). You cannot beat the interior, fit/finish, power, and mod capability all wrapped up in one for its price.

listen here mate ,

the gto isnt all that youre making it up to be , it originated from the VT series 2 chassis , holdens "V-Car" GM 2800 x , its a redesign version of the Opel / catera , the IRS is semi trailing arm design , and bordering on 20yrs old, if it wasnt "beefed" up by holden 10 years ago.

The front is mcpherson struts , and the shock towers move around quite a lot , and the steering lacks feel as in "Wooden"

The interior is basically an updated version of the base "executive" sedan , with splashes of satin chrome , and piano dash ...

"It's one of the best GM cars made in years...."

Please increase reading comprehension, instead of going off on tangents based on nothing but implied variables about the GTO versus every other car made in the world..over many years. The GTO is one of the best cars GM has provided in years, from road to roof, front bumper to rear bumper, driver side door to passenger side door.

Also, your attempt at trying to write and sound like a pathetic Car & Driver or Motor Trend reviewer is nauseating, and makes you even less believable. Thank God you only have 32 posts. But then again I doubt anyone takes you seriously considering your lackluster post count, odd screename, no avatar, and no profile. It's clear you are just a windbag or some other normal member here under another account.

According to HRTboy this is just simply a "basic upgrade"

What would be considered a non-basic upgrade anyway? Getting rid of HVAC venting? A steering wheel? A radio? A shifter?????

I saw the G8 at the canadian auto show and it looked very very nice. Then i saw the pimped out version 50 cent brought to the show and i stopped caring....regardless, I would rather buy a G8 and an other model Grand Prix.....although i always did like the GTP version.

To be fair, yes, the doors do look pretty similar from that angle. The rest of it, though, is a stretch. About 1/2 the cars on the market have the same layout, but that doesn't mean they are the same car.

the differnce is im not guessing , i know for a fact its the same underpinnings, and i think he knows it.

different intrument cluster and surround , and more squared off centre stack , there are changes to modernise it but its the same VT underneath.

im not saying its a bad car , i drive one with an ls1 / 6 speed

but its getting a bit outdated.

no...I honestly think you're full of sh1t and stretching to make some arbitrary point. There's only so many ways to lay out an interior, attach interior parts, mold interior parts. You can put the GTO interior next to the interior of a Cavalier and say it's a "basic upgrade"

Normally I dissagree with almost everything Bob says, but for once, I agree with him. I don't like the immature way he puts people down by slinging personal insults, but thats beside the point. Aside from that, the GTO build quality is amazing. You can't tell by pictures, you have to sit in one and experience it for yourself. The cars arent even the same size, these pieces are not interchangable.

Go sit in one, and you will take back everything you said about them. Its a shame it was only on the market for 3 years....

Let's be honest... who DID make a good car in the 80s, much less the early 90's?

And I agree with you on the flop of the GTO... but honestly I don't care for the exact reason you said- guys who KNOW what a great car this is can jump on them for cheap. That's exactly why my dad and I are looking for one, and are not afraid to pay 21-24k for a low miled '06 since they will definitely hold their value after the next 5 years when the rest of the people not in the know find out about this little gem.

I have the same opinion about the SSR... I think that car will be worht some hot money in like 10 years since it was low production and very novel (I'm mostly referring to the last gen, with the LS2 and M6). It's almost exactly like the GTO in terms of its situation- no marketing and poor execution, but a gem eitherway.
